  1. It was me. I was feeling so smug too What were the odds for that? Haven't the faintest idea. Luckily I'm not a betting man, it would have really been a kick in the dick.
  2. Loves to tell people when they fuck up but doesn't seem to take responsibility for his own mishaps. Sadly, these are becoming all too common. Surely can't be captain next season because he surely won't be a starter.
  3. I'll have to watch it back but to me the attack could have been dealt with pretty comfortably without the foul. It dragged the game into our penalty box with 30 seconds left. I've never been so confident that a substitution is going to ruin my f***ing weekend.
  4. Overall the performance was top notch. Thought Hayden was fantastic, I'd forgotten how much he does for the team actually. Thought Mitro was his best self, draws defenders towards him and puts in a shift. He's not suited to how we play though and he was too static when Ritchie/Shelvey is on the ball. Overall can't complain, with the exception of a particular substitution.
  5. What happened tonight was so incredibly fucking predictable from the moment he walked on the pitch. The only reason he has to make that tackle is because he has no other means of dealing with the situation. I'd love to know the amount of goals we've conceded due to this guy gifting goalscoring opportunities to the opposition. That second half epitomises exactly what he does to this team. Rafa will be retching.
  6. Seems like 7 points is nowt on the other hand this
  7. He hasn't scored in the league at home this season. A valid point
  8. Should start on Friday after his effective short spell yesterday. He's generally better at SJP too.
  9. Pissed right off with the performance. I thought we played some great stuff on Wednesday and that we could kick on but as soon as Gayle went off it went downhill. Maybe knee-jerk but I'd go with Mitro over Murphy next week if Gayle isn't fit. Looked up for it.
  10. I like him. Last night was the first time I've watched him and thought he could be more suited as a DM. Actually has a decent range of passing and looks more comfortable defending higher up the pitch than at CB.
  11. I was sat adjacent to the spot for 'the penalty that wasn't' and Gayle was almost level with Ritchie when he took the kick. However, when doesn't a team do this now? It was just unadulterated nonsense from all 4 officials. The bizarre 3 minutes added on was just salt in the wounds. At half time it was just a sea of bemused faces frantically googling the rules of the game. In terms of how we played, I'm surprised with the negative reviews of Atsu! I thought he had a great game, constant threat. After the penalty incident and the crowd had their tales up he seemed to have an extra gear, it was great to see. Mbemba was great until we scored, then he became the biggest culprit of the nerves near the end. Overall I thought the football was a lot more entertaining than recently, as expected with the line-up. Diame looked gassed very early on in midfield but still an upgrade on Jogback. On the flip side, I Burton were the worst team I've seen at SJP all season (even with 12 men) and didn't really offer much of a threat. All said and done I think we looked much more like a side worthy of promotion than we have in recent games. More of the same please!
  12. I'd at least have Hayden and Gouffran in before Darlow. Maybe Yedlin too. Darlow has been average in what has been a relatively easy season for a GK.
  13. 2-1 with a late winner off our bench. Scenes and Rafa chants on the way out of the ground.
  14. First half of the season - incidentally the period we dominated - Shelvey was the heart of our team. During our winning streak everything went through him, bringing it out of defense and transitioning to the attacking phase was all his responsibility. He got the best out of Gayle and has been the essential cog for Rafa's system, particularly with us lacking in a decent #10. He should also be congratulated for transforming his fitness. It's clear to see he's a different player physically than 12 months ago, particularly in the last few minutes when he's chasing lost causes. Never would've seen it before this season. He's got my vote. Honorable mentions to Ritchie and Gayle.
  15. General consensus seems to be that we need at least 5-6 first team signings in the summer. Seems a tall order. What is the average for a newly promoted team?
  16. Even though I'm a big fan of him this surprises me. Considering the criticism he's received that is a good haul for the bit-part role he's been given. Fwiw I would be disappointed if we gave up on him now and let him go.
  17. BBC Sport keeps butting Burton 1-0 up then back to 0-0. y u do dis.
  18. Club website won't even load for me! Probably protecting me from radio buffer rage.
  19. Would rather this than rush Hayden back. Gayle and Diame start, reminds me of the pre-christmas winning run
  20. Real shame if this is the case. Walking up the hill with SJP in sight still gets me giddy. Impresses everyone I take to a Newcastle match for the first time.
  21. I never really saw De Jong as a #10, more of a goal scoring midfielder like Nolan. Perez for me would be the sort of player who should be a good #10 in that he is creative as well as capable of getting goals. The problem is there have been too many games which have just passed him by in the last couple of seasons.
