We have to appeal that surely? And ask for an explanation about why Diaz only got a yellow when Schar got a red.

Found that baffling by Shearer. Points out they both did it. Then his conclusion was the right decision had been made.
  3. How the fuck was that not a red?
  4. Seems a bit nervous but articulate so far.
  5. Everton might feel a bit hard done by there. What looked like a stone waller not given, then one overturned with a non working screen. The overturned one was one of those that looked soft/attacker looking for it but it was less clearly and obviously wrong than Schar's which they left be.

And that in a nutshell is why VAR is shit. If you're going to spend time to watch a video replay of something and hold up the match whilst you are doing it then arrive at the correct decision. This arbitrary notion of "was that clearly and obviously an error enough for me to intervene" is obviously a nonsense which is why it's been constantly argued about every single week. And this season they've announced they've moved the line for what constitutes clear and obvious so we can argue about it even more.
  7. Why is MOTD opening on a Friday match? They don't usually do that so they?
  8. He has to balance out giving them a yellow tbf.
  9. I wondered why it was like that. It's just in squad number order which is daft.
  10. Along with Trippier presumably on the bench that feels a bit like a changing of the guard.
  11. Livramento and Hall starting is a good sign. It was the only nervousness I had. Those 2 need to be getting all the minutes they can.
  12. lolololol sums the game up.
  13. If you can't beat Harry Maguire 2 on 1 from the half way line you deserve nothing.
  14. On balance the scoreline is probably fair enough. They've had a few chances and Fulham have been particularly bad going forward. Fuck off though.
  15. They've sorted added time out at least by the looks of it.
  16. He finished the season really strongly with Chelsea, and their numbers had been strong basically all season. He'd have had them up and about the top this season if they weren't such a batshit club.
  17. Is Man Utd's game plan to just throw themselves to the ground in the penalty box as many times as they can until one is given?
  18. So much for these new rules. Firstly let's wait for a VAR penalty decision despite it not being clear and obvious. Secondly let's have not the captain go and moan to the ref about it and not get booked. 10 minutes these rules lasted?

That's very much at the upper end of what we should be paying. Let them think he's worth that much and end up getting a fraction of the price in a year or so.

Maguire's fee is hardly some sort of benchmark. It was laughable at the time. Just yet another example of Man Utd massively overpaying for a player.

    Anthony Gordon

Gordon is clearly a better footballer than Longstaff. I hope I made that much obvious at least

After what Chris Wood did I dread to think what Gordon would do against us

City have certainly got previous for paying over the odds for English internationals that's true. I'm not sure who else is paying 60m for a CB though. Due to PSR only a few teams can actually afford that kind of fee. Though to be fair they're probably the type of club he'd want to move to. Just because they can afford the 60m though doesn't mean they'd pay it - there's probably better value elsewhere.

I'll preface this with I really rate Gordon. But of the players we could lose for megs money he's the one I could stomach the most. In some ways I see him as a more gifted version of Longstaff. That obviously sounds really unfair. Longstaff is a player who on his day (when he isn't being overplayed with injuries especially) looks a very handy player for us. And this is mainly down to Eddie's coaching and setup. And to Longstaff's credit he's very good at being coached and following instructions. In that sense whilst he's good for us I don't think he'd necessarily do well elsewhere. To a point I see Gordon in a slightly similar vein, albeit he's a much better footballer to start with. But I guess I don't see a "generational talent" there. Isak and Bruno for instance could walk into any PL 11 and not look out of place. I don't think that's the case with Gordon. If we were to get the mega bucks for him I think he's replaceable and would back Howe to get someone else up to his standard. The counterargument to this of course is we've struggled to get a RW in. Am I mad?

But if no one is willing to pay palace more than what we are currently it could lock him into palace for however many years. If he wants away they'd have to offer him very favourable terms to mitigate that. If Bellingham doesn't score that last second overhead kick his asking price is probably £10m less. His current price is somewhat artificially inflated by having a few good games for a defensively setup England side. Put a £75m release clause into his contract and he could easily never leave. Not saying it won't happen. But if a player actually wants to move the new contract isn't necessarily win-win for both parties.
