Did you forget that we got relegated or something? I love Rafa as much as anyone but the damage was too deep when he came in for him to change what was a nailed on certainty. He didn’t know anything about what was happening at the club or in the dressing room even if he did have ideas about what he would like to do in the summer. Say we sack Bruce now and scramble a replacement in, like potter. Say he keeps losing because the squad is old and injuries and all the usual. What happens in February if we are 10 points adrift? Sack someone else? If we bring conte in then, is it too late like it was with rafa? It would just be the usual shite and I can’t be arsed with doing it out of emotion.

We sacked a manager and did a back of a packet fag calculation on putting tens of millions of pounds into an established shite manager who hadn’t managed at the top level for ages. We then fannied about not looking to replace him and sacked him far too late, and brought in Benitez, who didn’t have a plan to get us out of it but was good enough to stick around and try the next year. Mclaren was a knee jerk appointment. Even though it came far too late, we sacked him as a knee jerk without a plan. We got relegated even though we had a top quality manager come in. It is not even halfway through October. If we are sitting here mid November with Bruce, in the bottom 3 having been turned down by Graham potter, I give full permission to kick off. But we are way, way ahead of that and we have the luxury of taking maybe even a few weeks to find a manager who will not only stop us from going down, but hopefully kick us on to contending for Europe in the next 5 years. The next manager determines how much we can spend in January and on what. DOF probably too. Getting that right is absolutely pivotal to survival this year and kicking on for contending for something next year as on current form there aren’t three worse teams than us.

I agree he had much more to his game but that season we finished 5th, a lot of the goals were him grabbing one from nothing and catching opponents half asleep. He was a great all round forward but what he truly excelled at was turning up with a finish out of fuck all.

Say we sacked Bruce yesterday with nothing lined up. Then what? No manager on Sunday. What if we lose? Suddenly it becomes more desperate and finding the right person has ratcheted up tension. Realistically we have between now and Christmas to get as close to 6-8 wins as we can. Then we can spend in January. What we don’t want to happen is to sack Bruce for the sake of pleasing people who are apparently dissatisfied with just becoming the richest club on earth in a week, getting rid of Ashley and actually having a new manager come in anyway, and end up in crisis, players spitting the dummy, booing the owners etc etc. I can’t be arsed with any drama at this point. It is beyond crazy. We really do other fan’s work for them sometimes.

People are vastly underestimating the damage that sacking someone without a good plan in place could do, as if we haven’t been relegated twice because of it in the last 15 years

If all however many thousand of us sat down together and drew up a list of what needs doing, then worked out how to do it, then released the money to do it, then brought in lawyers to do it, it would be literal months before they took away his takeaway gift card

That benfica side was littered with football manager fodder

Disgusting it’s been six days you radge, we have had far more insidious bellends locked in than Bruce, you can survive a bit longer with him, I promise its not like Pardew not being sacked for the 6th time two years overdue
-
Didn’t Jesus knock us out of the uefa cup under Pardew

Giroud was plugging lampard the other day and there have been fifty billion quantum articles written linking just about every plausible person under the sun. I really get the desire to sack Bruce and get someone in as soon as possible but people are losing their minds already and nothing has happened. Ashley has given us PTSD.
-
It is 6 days since they bought a football club for the first time, nobody knows anything

He was an excellent poacher. As others have said easily the best striker since shearer, anywhere in the box and he was a threat.
-
I can live with brodge, could definitely do a job but he’s a cringe merchant. Not that I’ll care if we are winning and look decent.

*googles neom careers*

I can understand the itch to get rid of him immediately but you can all have a very nice time even if Bruce is there on Sunday. It probably won’t even be that long. It doesn’t have to happen in the next five seconds. I would far rather they had their house in order and avoided making a stupid mistake than sack Bruce last Friday and go and hire the first idiot they spoke to.
-
If I was him, this is the best case scenario really.
-
Does anyone know which famous philosopher decided how much of a club someone can own before fans have to prostrate themselves on the internet. And what percentage.
-
Lampard is dead on arrival. Given that it’s their first appointment I hope they talk to a few people before doing anything tbh. I’m also not convinced that he would actually be any better than Bruce with what he has until Xmas.
-
There really is no point in sacking him yesterday if you need a few days to work out who you’re replacing him with. If the situation goes on for weeks then that is a different thing entirely. Probably a lot that needs to happen before they can announce someone else. But I worry somewhat that the players know he’s toast and hope he’s gone by Sunday.

But we have a choice as to whether we actually take Saudi money and not compromise the broad range of beliefs and ideological stances across the rest of our lives, and dressing up in a thobe for banter. It just makes the whole thing smell bad when all I want is to sign everyone and win everything.
-
It makes other fans think we are idiots though. Which is eminently avoidable.

He is good by and large but nobody on earth is immune from dogshit takes, particularly when they’re outputting weekly content. His sanctimony winds me up a bit at times but ultimately who cares. You can’t cater for everyone all of the time, especially when your brand is snarky jabs.
-
Well he has form for looking the other way because more broadly he thinks he’s getting what he wants. One of the ones asking ‘what antisemitism?’ When thousands of Corbyn super fans were hounding Zionist labour members off of Twitter.

Squires was a Corbyn, so stones and glass houses etc etc
