Just goes to show how rancid the squad management has been over the long term. Rafa did his best but his way of doing it was spending to improve, unfortunately he never got the money to replace the players he intended to and they’re still starting premier league games long after a side like Brighton or palace would have moved them on. A big time manager and spending loads of money in January is the only way out of this.

Then he did nothing, spent loads of money on dross, got sacked and went to Belgium, where he made the best group of players available to any country look good in qualifiers but nowhere near good enough to deal with proper elite sides in the late stages of competitions. Now Belgium have aged away their biggest opportunities and people around him are agitating for him to jump before he is pushed. The last part I’ve just pulled out of my arse but I’m writing it anyway.

He’s managed Belgium into also rans and wasted an entire generation of ballers man. Like fair enough if he gets the job I’m not gonna want him sacked tomorrow but I’ve just spent three weeks fantasising like a shipping clerk in a Chinese opium den, he will be a comedown and a half.

Martinez is a proven failure outside of an FA cup win with Wigan, can’t organise a defence even with the best selection of defenders available anywhere in the world and what’s more he looks and sounds like an inside sales manager in a recruitment consultancy. Belgium and Everton didn’t play great football either, it was very much the same sort of shite you see up at man United under ole. A disorganised rabble hoping for one of the superstars to win the game for him, I’ve had a lifetime of that shite and want something else tbh.

He’s only gonna get one chance at managing Barcelona. He can afford to come back elsewhere in Europe, fail a bit but get experience, and then walk into the job when he’s better prepared. If I was him I’d be looking at a small club in a big league outside of Spain and plan for Barcelona within 4-5 years.

From what I’ve seen of Vlahovic he’s a similar sort of player. Problem with this sort of forward is you don’t know how they’re going to get on when all the defenders are massive with Ferrari engines until 5 games in. Some thrive, some can’t deal with it. Mitro was the latter.
