Villa are dire. Absolutely dire. But still it wouldn't surprise me if they nick it 1-0. Carver inspires no confidence.

Man City 5-0 NUFC - 21/2/15 "Match" thread - Post match reaction from p. 1

Watched mortal in Budapest with 15 lads on a 30th. Didn't spoil the night but sure was a gutless performance. -
Really bad result for them last night. Their West Brom and Hull games coming up look very important. If they don't pick a win from one of those games, they can be in real trouble.

After the poor performance yesterday, not looking forward to this. Maybe a point wouldn't be the worst result. -
I think people are being a bit harsh on Colback. I certainly don't he should be starting every game, but considering he was a free -it's a useful signing.

FFS. Krul's position was poor there. -

Maybe the worst game I've seen in the last 5 years but tbf that was a well worked goal. Impressive finish from Colback. -
Defoe is a decent signing, but they've obviously overpaid and gave him too long of a contract.

Southampton are a very solid team. Great defence, and well-organised. A point wouldn't be the worst result. -

Great post and totally right. If we spent £18 million on a couple of players in window, we'd have a chance for a strong finish (under new manager). Then sell Sissoko in the summer and re-invest all the money could be option. We have some good players, bit more squad depth will help greatly for the remaining games. I just want the new manager to play their strongest side possible in the cups next season - need to attack them. I fear a "caretaker" manager until end of season would be bad idea. Get the Manager sealed a week out before Hull. Pardew didn't get the most of our attacking options. We'll see how it gans... -

So, so worried if Carver is in charge for rest of season.

That would be something

He's widely thought of as a top class coach mind. And since we need a coach and not a manager... He had all the top coaching badges when he was at Middlesbrough. It didn't stop him singing Alves and constantly putting players out of position. Alves was absolutely brilliant the season before at Heerenveen. It didn't work out at Boro, but there is no way in my mind signing him was a mistake. Fair comment. I know it was Dutch league, but he was absolutely banging them in over there.

To be fair, we'd play more attacking football under McClaren that's for sure. Certainly not my first choice, but he did well in Holland, not so good Germany, but doing well at Derby. Defo worst choices out there. If he brings Will Hughes I could contemplate it. Wasn't overly impressed with them, watched them vs Norwich last week. Not fluid, very lax and poor at closing down. Zero urgency. Reminded me of an even shitter version of us under pardew tbh. Hard to believe. Was told it was an off game for them though. Yeah Hughes is a real talent. I did like that MaClaren went abroad. As a coach it does show he's mixing it up - new ideas. Will be an interesting week regardless, see who we go for.
