While I agree and understand everyone's frustrations, I think he wasn't there to be an immediate choice, equally you'd argue for Watkins if you supported Villa, and Wharton was an obvious choice to partner Rice, then there's Dunk/Bowen. Gordon won't be worried, he's just transitioned out of the under 21 set up, been voted their best player, now hes into the main squad, probably most of us are reading too much into it. The only risk Southgate has by not trying to utilise and give each player mentioned minutes, is what happened with Ben White of Arsenal, with some players, they just won't be called upon and not expect to be included, with Antony he'll use this to keep growing and proving to himself he's the best.

I'd not had much experience of seeing him just kept hearing the name, during the game where he scored a worldy, literally right before he scored it, I think I made a comment that was he all that, that everyone was hyping him up to be, right at that moment of posting he showed me why. Right I only looked on FlashScores as I had it open, didn't wiki him, but as you say, birth place was Netherlands, but Turkey international. Interestingly went through all the Dutch unders at international from 16-21, only to end up playing for the Turkish national first team.

We wouldn't be able to handle this Turkey intensity if they face us, we'd need to rely on their mistakes, Southgate couldn't set us up to deal with the pressure they bring. Not sure if it's a today thing for them, but early on in the groups one of Turkeys matches was the standout game, they're looking good here.

The energy and determination Turkey are playing with is impressive. Ferdi Kadioglu looks quality on the break, like the way Yilmaz puts everything into it, really gritty player. They want this.
