Not sure these days tbf, scouting and Dof work together, but someone posted he was credited with some of their better purchases. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/16426/13089908/crystal-palace-s-oliver-glasner-not-surprised-by-dougie-freedman-link-with-manchester-united If you watch this link, Glasner explains Freedman is involved in scouting.

Eze, Olise, Franca, Wharton, Guéhi, Munoz, Richards, loaned in Conor Gallagher. Seems Freedman has spotted some decent talent.

Well you need to look back to our dealings pre season, we could have gone in for Wharton in the same way we did for Lewis Hall since we've hardly used the lad. Our recruitment in the summer could have been done a lot differently, don't get me wrong I rate Barnes and Livramento, but most of our signings were priced really high, with Hall still costing 30m, we're looking close to 170m on five players, Hall,Tino,Barnes,Tonali,Minteh. Then there's these so called lesser/unproven players ready to be taken. Obviously a database exists and lists with preferences to targets and what fits the managers needs, both Franca and Wharton were clearly down the pecking order, but you never know what your seasons going to deal you, I'd bet my right hand, knowing what Howe does now, he'd certainly have been keen on having one of those players here. But, like they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing. ?

When you consider Palace payed only 18.5m for Wharton at 19, I'd dare guess they won't have paid in full yet, he looked like Rodri compared to Longstaff, he could easily have signed for us. Clubs just aren't brave where others are, if you um and ahh about it other clubs will swoop in big or small, and snap these players up. Palace have done well with both Wharton and Franca, Wharton being the obvious more ready and more suited to the English game and slotting in their side nicely, he looks very promising. Can't understand sometimes how we don't bid or get involved in some of these deals. But continue to have dross on the books.
-
Depends how you perceive it, I could consider we're only two away wins from where we likely should be?

Christ, Twitter is horrible tonight, a really bad display granted, but the first hiccup in a while, going into the game from the Premier league form chart as third best in the league, now we're back to sack Howe. Why are our fans so weird, we used to be called the deluded Geordies, its starting to become reality.
-
He wasn't prepared for their five man front press, and Wharton becoming Rodri. Completely pushed us back and won possession easily in doing so, our players forced into passes under pressure, and getting it wrong time and time again.

Yeah I get that, but many will criticise that particular display. I guess you've spotted the fraud accounts in action. The admin and mods wanted it this way, a more active forum, and everyone unbanned and back in full flow. there's always ignore button? -

Don't think that's entirely accurate of all, I'm one of Howes cheerleaders, best manager we've had in ages, but tonight it's been shite from all, his choices to start were questionable, and the game plan was none existent, why we didn't alter sooner has cost us, time and time people continue to point out its his lack of response, reactive not proactive. -

Eddie needs to grow a fucking pair and drop Longstaff, he's a liability, needs a total rest, nothing like the Sean Longstaff of last season. -

Eze has strolled past our right side every time he's had the ball, Murphy and Krafth haven't a clue what to do with him. -

Wilson hasn't long been back in training and now made the pitch, If Livramento is named he's surely fit, we're talking 20 minutes of football at this stage 70 minutes. It's a mess this whole set up. -

Krafth, Murphy, Longstaff, these lads aren't the right level, unfortunately for now it's what we've got, but with Hall, Livramento both sat there, I'm not sure what Eddie is thinking. -

Murphy is shit, if Livramento is fit, he starts the game. -

This set up doesn't work. Palace press us high up the pitch and are in the tackle as soon as we're in possession, if we put more pace on the pitch, Hall/Tino, and we're snappier in the pass we can play a counter attacking game, as things stand they go with their front three pressing first, and the two midfielders supporting their press, Wharton has looked like Rodri at times, we absolutely need to go on the counter, or it's more of the same. -

Not sure why he went with this line up, we look shite, Palace look like a side who are top 4 the way they're controlling the play. -
Buzza, Barcelona can't afford him, and Real Madrid don't need him. Pep apparently thinks hes perfect for him, and it could be Bernardos last season with City. I think he'll stay committed to Newcastle, and like everyone else here believe he loves the fans etc, but, and it's a big one, if the clause is met, which I think to get him it will have to be, then it is a whole different game. If Newcastle wanted to keep him here no matter what, they would have negotiated that clause out of his contract, it's pretty obvious they see it as a marker that they could cope with, to finance future targets.
-
Yeah we know Edwards is a pessimistic scrote, but if that release is triggered, he's gone right? I know people will be saying it's up to the player, but I'm sure agents will influence and a club like City will sell him the dream with little need to convince. Pretty sure our entourage wouldn't have agreed the buyout, but, I guess they looked at 100m and thought if someone pays that our FFP ceiling is raised. I guess if it did happen, we have to accept this is the way we will need to progress and evolve until financial obstacles change.

If a club triggers the release clause is it game over?

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

I think it would be ridiculous to loan him out after the numbers he's produced, and although it's a team effort, he's won a trophy and contributed very much in his first season. If Miley can be relied upon, then I'm sure this lad can, he could go in as back up to Gordon and Barnes surley ahead of Murphy? -
