  1. Is Sherwood still in that ridiculous role at Swindon where he's not the manager, but he's the DoF with all of the roles and responsibilities of the manager?
  2. Absolutely and I've have had them all for the season, if we could have. But they either wanted to leave or Rafa didn't want them. Next season I'd hope that we'd sign some players better than all of the above though. Fwiw my argument is about next season in the PL - not this season.
  3. He's only scored against Man City and Dynamo Zagreb in the CL. In the 4 years prior to joining us he had this record: 09/10: 17 goals, 7 assists in 26 10/11: 16 goals, 11 assists in 52 11/12: 17 goals, 12 assists in 39 12/13: 16 goals, 10 assists in 46 13/14: 9 goals, 2 assists in 28 He then had 2 injury hit seasons with us, and now has 6 goals and 2 assists in 20, thats a really good record no matter what league your in, even if the Eredivise is poor quality. Luuk de Jong is a goal scoring machine in that league. Would you have him back too for next season in the PL?
  4. He's only scored against Man City and Dynamo Zagreb in the CL. You're right, he scored 3 goals against Man City to help Ajax get 4 points in their Champions League group of Man City, Real Madrid and Dortmund Perez has also scored (for Newcastle) against Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham x2 and Arsenal. Swings and roundabouts. de Jong has done absolutely nothing in a Newcastle shirt, which is what matters. I'm glad the trivial arguments about nothing have started early this international break.
  5. He's only scored against Man City and Dynamo Zagreb in the CL.
  6. In the limited time he's played, he's looked 100% more comfortable on the ball and has better distribution then both Perez and Diame, he's just not particularly pacey. I think people only remember that miss. Not entirely sure how such a grand statement of de Jong's talents can be made in relation to a player who has featured for 382 minutes for Newcastle United. That's just over 4 matches in two full seasons. Same goes for Aarons - maybe he's a class player, but it's impossible to judge when he cant get onto a football pitch.
  7. Probably in the bracket of "very minor knock but don't want to play in meaningless international matches" type of injury. Which I completely agree with fwiw. Our squad being fit and performing well in these last few crucial games is a lot more important than a pointless match against Canada and a qualifier against Haris Vuckic's lads.
  8. It's incredible how a player out on loan or out with a long term injury suddenly becomes a lot better than they actually are because the alternatives on the pitch aren't playing that great.
  9. For a player that was bang average at his best, he has an awful lot to say in public about players who are far superior to him, like. Very similar to Savage.
  10. There is simply no excuse for Arsenal not winning the title last year like.
  11. Wigan charged us £5 extra than they charged their own fans sitting in identical seats at the opposite end of the ground and absolutely nothing was done about that.
  12. If anyone drops out of the top two, it'll be Brighton. That said, I don't think Huddersfield will catch them as they'll drop too many points themselves. 10.
  13. Not a chance these will survive, games like today they'd have won in previous years.
  14. Who is the team we have played most frequently on the opening day of the season?
  15. It's just utterly sad that someone of that age would act like that.
  16. Interesting headline chosen by Sky Sports... And fwiw, Neesy, a decision is a bent decision if it's a wrong decision.
  17. It's not like you to comment on something without knowing anything about it, to be fair.
  18. Well you asked if we had any and I've just clearly noted four, so actually - you're wrong.
  19. The (wrongly) disallowed goal Ritchie late on with a good save Gayle came very close to latching onto one but the keeper just about got it away Murphy early on in the second half, their keeper with another good save Couple of half chances in the first, but not clear cut
  20. We only had three shots on target, their keeper couldn't have been that good surely? Did you watch the game today? Obviously not. I doubt the BBC stats are lying to me though Not saying they are lying; just pointing out that trying to assess a match solely on the stats is just ridiculous. We were more than good enough to win today and a combination of poor officiating and good goalkeeping stopped us.
