  1. A lot of rags circulating rumours today that Austin would prefer NUFC move ahead of any of the other options (West Ham, Leicester etc).
  2. http://whatculture.com/sport/sunderland-opted-against-signing-newcastle-striker.php  Not even sure what to say to that...
  3. You're implying that aren't you? I think Mole, Mandoon and Unbelievable have been quite spot on with their opinions. He might get goals, but he doesn't contribute enough in general play to ever succeed in a club like ours unless we change our ways of playing. In the right team he's not a horrible player, but we're so s*** all over we'd need someone that can get involved in general play, which despite Pardew probably believing that because of his height, he doesn't do well. Am I? Have I not stated (several times) that I'm not saying he is going to succeed or not, merely stating he deserves a chance (if signed). I said that if he has the right players around him, he'll score goals - which is evidenced in his goal-scoring record. The only counter arguments is that people think he looks bad, or doesn't contribute etc. etc. He's barely had a bad season as a player, yet people seem to think we could do better. Makes me laugh how everyone slated (and rightly so) Pardew for asking wingers to "contribute" and not just attack, yet this guy just attacks and people moan he doesn't contribute! Do you have trouble reading? people are saying he doesn't contribute to general play, which is important considering how disjointed a team we are. If we were making s*** loads of chances every week then fair enough but we don't so it's important that the striker can score out of nothing which he can't. How often he attacks or doesn't attack is irrelevant when he'll never see the ball in the positions he saw it for Wolfsburg. If he signs and scores 20 or more goals (in all competitions) next season, you can buy me a pint. If he signs and scores less than 20 goals (in all competitions) next season, I'll buy you a pint. If he doesn't sign, then we'll carry on this discussion next summer about a player in the Slovakian league who we are linked with at that point. Start watching your Slovakian football.

  5. Would love to know when I named him as an exciting prospect
  6. You didn't answer my question - how many Wolfsburg fixtures did you watch last season to gain such an expert judgement on him? The bloke started 28 games last season (across league, cup and international), scored 20 goals and got 7 assists. Terrified of the ball he is, absolutely terrified. Fine. He's a penalty box striker with good general instincts but needs to be force fed. In other words his ability on the ball isn't very good at all and seeing as we don't really create much it would be De Jong mk2 ( the crap one) except i agree with Unbelievable, De Jong is a better player. Still didn't answer my question, but okay Lets hope we don't sign this bloke, because four people on an internet forum claim to have scouted him on a regular basis (with their intense and fantastic scouting record) and deem him unable to be a success for us. :cheesy: And your qualification for opining on this subject is? I've not said he's good nor bad, I've just criticised others who have slated a man who they've barely seen kick a ball. I've simply stated to give the bloke a chance (should he sign). Except we have seen him kick a ball unlike you. You're beyond help. Your argument is pathetic. PS - I went and watched Wolfsburg live on one occasion last season and managed to catch between 6-8 of their league and cup games on TV. But obviously you know everything and you are a world class football scout. Good on you. So you're not ignorant, just completely rubbish at properly assessing a player. But please do tell, what did you see in Dost's style of play that made you think he would be good enough for the PL? I've not said I think he'll be a success, all I have said is you cannot write a player off before he is started. Given the right players around him, he'll score goals - as he has proven over three seasons, in two different leagues. His addition would be useful, given they also add in the areas around him.

  9. He scored over 40 goals in 60 appearances with Heerenveen over two seasons. 20 in 28 appearances with Wolfsburg. Three seasons of absolute luck! What a complete terrible player he must be! Sigh. I've never said he was a terrible player. Just not good enough for the level we are/should be aiming for, as well as not at all being the type of forward I would like Newcastle United to build their attacking play around. Not sure what is so difficult to comprehend here. It must be utterly terrible to build your attacking play around a striker who scores goals. We'd be better finding a player who links up the play, runs around, passes and moves and scores 0 goals a season. Not good enough for the level we are? He plays for Wolfsburg, a Champions League team who most recently won a trophy. He'll be joining a team who survived relegation by the skin of their teeth. We're not going to sign Messi or Ronaldo this year I'm afraid.

  13. Completely agree, fat head comes out spouting absolute garbage about qualifying for the Champions League and if anyone was in any kind of doubt he was talking out of his hind quaters he backs it up by appointing a manger fresh from being peddled from a Championship club and potentially signing a striker that plays like it's the first time he's seen s football for three quaters of the season. Nice one Mike, I bet Arsenal are shiteing themselves! I don't quite think that his sacking at Derby gives anybody the right to write off his entire career. As for the part regarding Dost how on Earth can anybody write off a player that hasn't even put his toe inside our stadium yet? Perez must have been a disgraceful signing too, as he was signed from a 2nd division Spanish team? By watching him play football. So you have regularly watched him play for Wolfsburg? Not highlights on a YouTube video, the full 90 minute game to understand his play? I'm sure I could create a clip of Ronaldo looking shit, doesn't mean nothing. Give the fucking bloke a chance for crying out loud, Leicester signed Vardy from Fleetwood - he now has an England cap. Utterly embarrassing from Leicester, unreal, how dare they sign a player of such poor quality.

  15. Would be very interesting to see the outcome if it was three important senior players involved. Would they really sack Schmeichal, Vardy and Cambiasso?
  16. Spot on. There is no point giving them the satisfaction in the fans forum as it is nothing but a charade to pretend they care about what we think.
  17. I'm just totally underwhelmed to be honest... We have a backroom team needing 3 or 4 quality coaches and an assistant manager. We have a team needing about 6 quality additions. The available funds are being touted from £25m - £60m, I'm sorry but £25m is nowhere near enough for enough of the standard of players that we need. I'm not one who thinks throwing money around yields results, but £25m is laughable. Micah Richards moves to Villa today on a free transfer... We currently have Mike Williamson, even to bring Richards in as back-up would have been a start.
  18. Think he'll do really well for them personally - he had a poor season at Man Utd but was never given a real run in the team. You'll be low on confidence as a striker if you're given 10 minutes here or there or a start away at Preston in the cup. Doesn't help he was also on his comeback from injury, so being a bit part player would have ruined him even more. No doubt he'll score goals next season for Chelsea, especially with Costa rumoured to be leaving (?) he may be their first starter.
  19. The f***? He was pretty crap for Inter last season. Yep, that's why I'm laughing at the fee Apparently he cba'd at Inter. If he gets his head out of his ass he should score with ease in Turkey. Depends on how the matches are fixed next season, he might need to get yellow cards rather than goals.
  20. For a club trying to show the supporters that they have changed and everything is all rosey and happy... It's a pretty piss poor effort to have not even installed a backroom team yet. We've been researching signings for months, have we not? Therefore it should be a case of making the deals happen early and getting everyone in for pre-season. We are ridiculously bad on transfer deadline day and rarely ever make signings on it (we do sell though, if the ££ are right) so I have no hope for any late deals.
  21. Would probably be "more Newcastle" if the pink bits were black. As has been previously stated, NUFC don't get much/any say on the strips. Puma would have created that and shown to NUFC.
  22. From NUFC.COM So we've somehow managed to wangle him on a free
