  1. Another player I'd like to have in the team at this current moment. I've always thought there is something there with Marveaux and agree he was heavily mismanaged at NUFC. However, Marveaux is still contracted to us - so he is still worth discussing/crying over why he is not playing. HBA is not.
  2. THIS is my argument with HBA! He does not play for us anymore! Why are we randomly gracing him with praise? Hit. Nail. Head. I've agreed he is class, I've agreed that we need him, but the same all applies to Albert.
  3. Such as who? Jack Colback? Nah, I'm kidding, just wanted you to rage inside for a moment. One random example, Albert.
  4. That isn't the issue at all, MYM was just the first name to come to mind. My issue was with HBA's work-rate and half arsed appearances but being classed as a hero on here whilst others with a similar work-rate are absolutely battered. Being good at football doesn't make you immune to critics. He's a direct winger who plays in bursts. His work rate was completely fine It's like complaining about Tim Krul because he's not running up the pitch and diving into challenges. For crying out loud, work-rate is not just running around and challenging. He is a flair winger, who's role is to create and score goals... Sadly in my opinion, he did not do it enough. He'd frequently fade out of games if it was not going his way.

Being good and football doesn't make you immune to critics. The issue here is that I don't believe anyone has ever said he's perfect or that he should be immune to criticism. He is not a hero outright, but when you look at what we've got right now, comparatively speaking, he's more heroic than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk put together. Compared to what we have now, you are more heroic than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk put together. But that is a different thread and conversation.
  6. As was previously mentioned, the majority of the blame for HBA's career not taking off to its potential lies with HBA himself. He can be mismanaged in one or two systems, with one or two managers - but every single one he has worked under? Suspicious. We will never know if he's a total cock, but there must be a reason why. It is sad to see such a talent wasted. I'll end with a line I have repeated - I would love HBA in our club at this point in time, but others have produced more than him and got less plaudits.

  8. I see your point, but in 3 years will MWM have a thread on here still going because he's the saviour of our football club that we let go? No. HBA gets so much afforded to him because he is the best flair player we've had in a long time. It's a bit like pulling a tidy lass on a night out, your standards are raised and you're moody when you can't have another when you next go out. That is HBA and the chat on this forum.
  9. Completely agree. I'd rather have a half arsed HBA over most of our current players, but the point I was making is we don't have that option anymore.
  10. Definitely, he's the type of player we have needed in this slump - someone who can make something out of nothing. I just fail to understand why he is loved on here when in reality compared to others, he has contributed very little and made an arse out of his own career. There is no doubt he's a talented footballer. Because the way he plays is highly likely why most of us fell in love with football and the kind of football we dreamed about Unless of course you dreamt about Gouffran running 15 yards and then passing the ball 10 yards to Colback? I can totally understand that and as I have said, I loved his moments of magic. But the reality is, a lot of the time he did not show up. Sterling has been hammered on here recently for not showing up certain games, similar player, similar attitude. So Sterling wouldn't get in our side either? What did you think of Laurent Robert? Not once have I said I do not want HBA in our team. All I have done is point out that he never fulfilled his potential and repeatedly gave nothing performances but is still carried on here as the saviour of all. If people mention his name in a slightly negative manner on this forum they are shot down, it's ridiculous. And Robert? Very similar to my views on HBA. Class player who hid quite a lot when he couldn't be arsed. Loved watching him (as I did HBA) but others have gave more to NUFC than either of them.

Sterling has been hammered on here recently for not showing up certain games, similar player, similar attitude. That isn't the reality though, it's something you're just saying to suit your agenda whilst ignoring the mitigating factors behind why his form may have been up and down. Sterling is a good point, although I don't think he's capable of anything close to the ridiculous things Ben Arfa could pull off. We're football fans, we'll make stupid, hypocritical comments about other players from other teams, you could look hard enough and you'd find people slagging off Eden Hazard and Diego Costa for not turning up, actually scratch that, you could click on the Messi thread and see people saying the same things about Christiano Ronaldo It is reality though, HBA has been passed from team to team for a reason - some of which the public will probably never know. All I am saying is a player of his quality has the potential to be playing for a top team, but he isn't. There are clear reasons why on the field and apparently reasons off it too. I'd rather have him in our team, but he isn't. I'd rather watch him than Ameobi trying to mount the back of somebody, but I can't. If we live in the past we just all become bitter and twisted. The way I view HBA (which may be different to yours) is a quality player who for one reason or another never met his potential. Our current players are getting hammered for "not giving their all", HBA frequently didn't give his all.

  13. Have I not already responded and answered that? We'd have more points if Shola was in the team rather than Riviere. Doesn't mean Shola's the worlds greatest and underrated player. Anyway, very few people realistically think he's the "Worlds greatest", but they think that we need players like HBA, that are capable of greatness at times. Whether they're the most consistent, or the hardest worker in the world, isn't always the most important thing. He's revered on here more and more every day because he represents exactly the kind of player we need, and every day that we're forced to watch Ryan Taylor marshall our midfield, we will pine for some magic in the form of Hatem Ben Arfa. Completely agree that should he have been with the team this season we'd have more points. Completely agree that he's the sort of player we need (when he shows up). But there are plenty of other players out there, of similar style who actually perform on a more regular basis (that NUFC could attract). Fact is, he doesn't play for us anymore. Why cry over spilt milk? He's gone and not coming back. Why are we not crying that Shearer isn't playing anymore? All those goals we could have had this season. Bring back Alan!

  16. 55 starts 14 goals 13 assists Also almost 50 sub appearances. You should effect a football match whether you start or come on as a sub. You can make stats read however you like, was someone not shot down for suggesting Colback's stats are better than Sterlings?

  18. Really fail to understand why a bloke who does not play for us (and hasn't for a while) gets so much attention. I loved his moments of magic, but in reality, that is all they were... Moments. 90% of the time he gave less of a shit then the current crop and did not contribute. I always said, Hatem could play 10 games and would contribute (and win single handed) 1 of them, the other 9 he would be a near insignificance. Whether that automatically gives him legend status and means he should play every game I don't know. He has been same for the whole of his career and ultimately that is why he is now playing (or not playing) for Nice. If he was the shear brilliant footballer that people think he is, he'd be playing for a much higher standard. Lynch me, shoot me down - that is just an honest opinion. The whole "if he played under Guardiola instead of Pardew" comment irritates me the most, if a 'flair manager' thought anything of him then one of them would have bought him. Hatem is an incredible waste of talent due to his own making.
  19. This interview should be printed off and handed out to all 50,000 attending on Sunday. On the 34th minute all 50,000 should be thrown onto the pitch. Would be a spectacular sight, probably result in us losing though and the fans being to blame for all 38 games.
  20. It's not even about Man U any more, Hull are like us now, totally directionless and led by a Geordie blimp. Man U could put out an U-19 side and Hull would probably find a way to lose. Agreed. We are forgetting that Hull need to win the game, I can easily see it being a draw (would be extremely nervous mind if Hull enter injury time drawing and we're not winning).
  21. Nope, it's not a thing. Southampton don't, sunderland don't. West Brom have never had it whilst they've had their thick normal stripes. We're the only ones who seem to insist on it for some reason. What about the premier league numbers/letters? Are they only allowed to be black now? When West Brom had their stripes, they used red letters/numbers. Obviously black would be impossible on any newcastle kit, red would probably look ridiculous too We used to have red numbers before the PL, it was fine. Yeah I know, I meant that I wonder if the PL made a new rule about the numbers having to be black or a dark colour (dunno why they would ) Just found this in the Prem rules "M.7. When playing in League Matches each Player shall wear a shirt on the back of which shall be prominently displayed his shirt number so as to be clearly visible in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Board from time to time, and above that his surname or such other name as may be approved in writing by the Board" Nothing there, so no idea. Does say "prominently" though. Not sure Stoke's were that "prominent" this season Wasn't there some UEFA ruling over the numbers on the back which might be why Southampton and West Brom have never addressed it. Just guessing but I do think there was a rule change at some point. Aye, I knew I was right - it's a UEFA rule Source: http://ffm.mk/media/files/UEFa-Kit-Regulations-Edition-2012_en.pdf Number-zone colours In order to be approved, the contrast between shirt colours in the number zone must be less than or equal to a Delta L of 25. Colour combinations with a Delta L value greater than 25 are considered as contrast colours and require a neutral patch on the back of the shirt. Maybe this is a sign we're going to challenge for European football?
  22. Have I made this up but was it not made a thing that clubs cannot have striped backs? The shirts need to be one colour on the back to assist with reading player numbers/names? The back would be slightly better if the bottom part was black rather than blue. I sort of like the front, I guess all of the blue is to make the hideous Wonga logo blend a bit. Absolutely terrible that we're now advertising a company with their old logo though.
  23. Have no problem with Colback starting if we had an actual game plan that he fit into. My problem is that we have absolutely nothing, and our coaching staff probably hold him in reverence thinking he's England's future captain. It's the perception of him by the club that is worrying, rather than his actual output. If they think he's the dog's bollocks (he isn't), and don't plan on buying a quality midfielder to properly replace Cabaye, then people are rightly going to have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to him. Is Siem not Cabaye's replacement? Colback to me is a more defensive minded midfielder, whereas Cabaye and Siem are both attack minded and would prefer to play at the top of a diamond. Colback has always been Tiote's replacement imo and he is much less erratic and better on the ball. It's not Colback's fault that Siem is allergic to football?
  24. I could understand Sterling wanting to leave if he was carrying Liverpool and had been their best player on a consistent basis. But he hasn't. He is Charles N'Zogbia, thinking he's a world beater and offering himself to Arsenal and ending up at Villa. Sadly, Sterling is just a wife beater. Can't wait for him to end up at West Ham in 2020 savaging his career.
  25. Barkley has less goals and assists than Colback this season He's got less PASSHHONNN too!
