  1. Nothing of note to see in that clip. Possibly a bit of additional tension at one point, re transfers (extra lip pursing as if inhibiting his intuitive first response). But but of eye sparkle at some points, i.e. even though quite flat throughout easily changeable/his humour isn’t too suppressed. That isn’t a depressed, stressed, anxious or angry man.
  2. Have a go at feeling happy for him. Try it on for size. Might be life changing.
  3. Suspect Rafa’s mistrust of Mitro is more general than that. Just speculating but probably not a player who will stick to his game plan. He seems a bit more off the cuff. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, particularly in a striker, but not Rafa’s way and you only get away with it if you finish/prove your worth. My sense is he has seen Mitro miss too many and he hasn’t proved his worth/earned the right to be let off the leash. It is pretty clear he isn’t getting any more chances to do so.
  4. Guivarc'h! Kin hell. I had forgotten about our World Cup winner. I’d take Deeney. If Rafa thinks he can do what he needs him to do, obviously. Would prefer a more exciting option, which also goes without saying. Rafa has, more than once, lamented not being able to rely on young players giving you what you need/doing what he wants in the PL. Loads of us have lamented how easily we are (Perez, Gayle, to some extent Joselu) pushed off the ball when trying to build an attack. Deeney is experienced, strong as a bull, and a leader. Could imagine him, even without other additions, increasing the likelihood of Premier League survival, which at the moment is our most important and realistic goal.
  5. I was just going to post the same (except ‘I’ll show my arse in Shepherd’s Window...’—it’s an age thing, and Gateshead thing. Plus much safer as Shepherd’s Dept Store no longer exists!!)
  6. Still here, but to be fair you’re all doing a fine job of summarising the s*** we’re in that I feel I can’t add much Hard times. Do you think SAFC were in a worse position (overall) before they were relegated to the old third division?
  7. Arnautovic has a hamstring injury apparently. Poo!
  8. Ditto. Arnautovic... the f*** was I thinking.
  9. Did you fall asleep half way through? Can’t get the kids to bed!

  11. Think I may have just developed mild epilepsy! (Oh and I think 10 seconds shows remarkable perseverance).
  12. Heady days of studenthood... bah humbug! Join the pissed-up, positive, procrastinating, pantalaimons! (...did Alan Price not do a song with that title? Fucking should have.)
  13. Easily the times of the year with the most free time (not counting summer) Aye, for everyone on every other course. For me at Christmas in my 2nd year I had 2 essays to write, a presentation to make, and 4 exams to revise for in the space of 3 weeks. How did you spend the spare two weeks??
  14. Easily the times of the year with the most free time (not counting summer) Spring and Autumn were not too far behind... happy days!
  15. The power of positive pantalaimons; let’s shift the shape of our cloob’s owner: arrogant blob to ... well anyone who has used the word pantalaimon in business!
  16. TalkSport rattling on about Premier League salaries. I was curious to see how we compare to other clubs (and what our individual players and ‘targets’ are currently on). This is all I could find: https://www.statista.com/statistics/547090/average-annual-first-team-player-salary-in-football-clubs-english-premier-league-uk/#0 Anyone seen an update/more detailed article? Edit: think it is here http://globalsportssalaries.com/GSSS%202017.pdf P40. We’re 15th in PL (you get what you pay for??). Average annual salary £1.71m. More than Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley, Brighton, and Huddersfield. 11 teams pay at least £0.5m per year more. Everton (8th) pay an average of over £1m per year more.
  17. FYP/one to confuse the American brethren.
