  1. The exodus of red backs (that phrase is crying out for a David Attenborough voiceover) will look quite like the tourists and home-counties Mancs leaving Old Trafford.
  2. Felt desperate to hear good news about young JaM, but as time has gone on it seems less important. He's on Rafa's list (fuck knows where) so all good, but he prefers to play right wing and he has had one season in the Championship. However good he is, however much potential he has, it would be odd if he set the Premier League on fire/didn't see his arse (a little) in his first season. Bring out the main course: we're starving!
  3. Strip is rancid. What were they thinking?
  4. In the absence of anything else football-related that's interesting to read, RTG is a hoot at the moment!
  5. If I was Ndiaye, or any of there squad, I'd walk to Newcastle to sign for us ("Don't care if it was just a Twitter rumour, Senor Benetiz, you have to sign me, please!") rather than wear that abomination.
  6. Neither is Hayden Looked for both of those two, too ( ). Never fear, Guoff, Murphy (not that one), and Hanley are in there
  7. Stunt or true: f***ing hell! The other two look like they're blushing.
  8. If our interest 'cools' might it be because we have Ritchie and Atsu who both play better and the right and Murphy apparently also plays better on the right. Surely if a 'full fat' left winger of similar/better quality is biting we should pursue that. I want signings as much as anyone, but we don't want a situation like 2015-16 when it seemed like we had shedloads of players who preferred to play attacking midfield/no.10 and nowhere near enough cover/decent first choices for other midfield berths.
  9. My uncle Jim once told me "If you can leave your home town, your friends and your family it will open your eyes and make you a man." And that makes coming home all the sweeter ..... Ahl brave the dark at St. James's Park, At the Gallowgate End in the rain, Ahm coming home.. It's a bit of an anthem in our house, my 6yo loves it.. she was disappointed however to find out after 3 years that mackems dont actually wear bin bags for clothes. Eh? Am I being whooshed? Have I forgotten a verse of Coming Home Newcastle? Or what?
  10. Don't get the hate for the young lad considering Everton. If you think supporting the club, being local, means the club will show any loyalty to you the you're sadly mistaken. They are all ruthless and self-centred with the lads who have been sold the dream and usually had all their hopes (self-esteem) tied to being a player with the club they are at. Some clubs seem better than others. Everton get the best 'press' from parents I speak to in the North West. Good luck to the lad. He'll need it. 75% of 16 year olds who sign a contract for a full time scholarship--all these lads have survived multiple 'culls' often, from ages 6 onwards--leave the game before they're 21. Basically, the Academies and Centres of Excellence have been shit at developing young talent.
  11. Siem last man standing! Christ I've missed a notable event. Hope the club historian was there.
  12. He looks like one as well... [edit: cunt I mean...] [2nd edit: obviously]
  13. Hope you're right. Another more probable guess is that he is realistic re the different stages of his project. He knows the game (on and off the pitch) inside out and is planning to do what he can to consolidate our position in the Premier League on a sound performance and financial footing. Next stage improve our standing. Next stage push in among the big hitters again. Hope he is given what he needs to do this because I firmly believe he is just the man for the job.
  14. Burra and Villa look favourites imo. Yep. Add Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham, Reading, Hull and Norwich to the leading pack too. Top 8 is realistic for SAFC. Will be surprised if they make it anywhere near top three, points wise, though may creep into play-offs.
  15. Good insight into personal impact what it's like to be constantly on loan.Didn't realise he went back to Chelsea for a week. http://www.themag.co.uk/2017/07/newcastle-star-says-will-better-last-season-need-repay-rafa-benitez-newcastle-united-christian-atsu-newcastle-united/
  16. Probably any result is going to have the gloss taken off it or be made even worse due to feelings about lack of transfer activity. Odds are we won't play that well. I'm finding it hard to get as pumped up for as I'd normally be.
  17. Yep. But also the close thin stripes... just nah... Don't mind it so much in the blue and white.
  18. I wish he was a little bit taller...
  19. Depends which birthday you use.
  20. Is 'prepared to' and we are 'monitoring' his preparedness. Just do it.
