You'd now be able to be quite far ahead of the defensive line as long as the back of your trailing boot is in line with a defender. Playing a high line would be suicide. Could see a lot of teams setting up much more negatively with this in place.

Rate Barnes a fair bit. Him being another left sided palyer makes me think we aren't in for him but I reckon he'd be capable of getting 15+ goals from the wing in our side.

It's always tough for a fullback as you are competing for only one position, which doenst regularly get rotated or subbed out. Can understand him thinking he may not get many minutes joining a side who's RB has just been in the team of the season.

If you look at our lineup last season on paper it didn't look all that special either, like. Was actually one of the highlights of last season for me going onto opposition boards and having them point out the likes of Burn at LB, Longstaff at CM Almiron and Willock on the wings and seeing how confident they were and then comparing it to the post game threads. Arteta has spent something like £600m now I think at Arsenal and the were already a top 6 side when he took over. It is odd that having them challenge for the title for a while was made out to be an underdog story but the money was always mentioned anytime Newcastle got a bit of praise.

It's because it's a release clause so they had to transfer all the money upfront so nothing to do with FFP. Think Chelsea were negotiating deals above players release clauses in cases like Enzo to avoid having to pay it all upfront too.

I don't think we were ever going to pay his release clause. I think it would have been an Isak situation where we liked him but the price was too high and we would have possibly revisited later in the window if there was a deal to be made cheaper. I personally didn't think any club would have paid his clause.

If they stick to playing Trent as an inverted fullback it's more or less a 4 man midfield and would allow him to play as an attacking midfielder. Think it will be similar to how Havertz is used at Arsenal where Zinchenko moves into midfield.
