On Diame, as good as he was.. who knows which form of him turns up in pre-season He was class for West Ham one season then shipped off to Hull the next. s**** or Hull first season then amazing the next I don’t think any ever used him as a ball winning defensive midfielder though. He was seen as an attacking midfielder which he’s done well although inconsistently. Think Rafa realised this or maybe just lucked into it.. He doesn’t need the same sort of pace as he used before. Just little bursts of power, disrupt and move the ball on.. that he can do. Maybe they’ll bring on Ki for him after 70 mins. If games are going well. Protect his legs etc. We need some young legs in attack too. Townsend must be about 30 at this stage so this rumoured switch between him and selling on Ritchie sounds like a temporary fix. I quite like Ritchie actually, would prefer if we kept him. And does that mean Hayden keeps his place. Has he done enough to stay? He's 26 i think

Reckon that's CM's sorted unless we sign Sturaro, Shelvey, Ki, Hayden and Diame are the four for the two positions.

The worry is and has been for yonks now is that we actively avoid buying, which in this day and age is a ludicrous thing to do, spending the bare minimum means you just about standstill. Doing that when you have a manager like Rafa is even more mental.

Are you for real with this argument? The striker you want is 60+ mil striker. Good luck with that. I think that bigger issue is that Mitrovic doesn't want to play for us again. Where have I said that I want a £60M striker? I’d love to cash in on Mitro and get an upgrade on him; he’s got too many basic flaws for me and if (big if) Rafa was given up to £30M to spend on a striker I’d love to see who he comes up with to suit his plans. Might as well have just put 'won't get' tbh. With prices they are now we have no chance of signing a better striker, not while Ashley is in control of the money.

I like to agree but the sending off against Tottenham was dumb, and the West Ham one was as pointless an elbow as you could ever see. I used mad as it's term used by both his supporters and detractors. Personally i think he's fine now, he might still do the odd daft thing but i see a lad growing up a bit, still want him stay like.

For me he's a very very good target man, with good service he'll score more often than not. I like him, not because he's mad, but because he's decent and it'll be a shame when we do sell him.
