Listened to the latest podcast just to hear the latest state of play regarding the takeover Although Matt Slater was definitely an informative listen, I couldn't help but feel a little irritated at some of the remarks. The question as to why the Saudis would target us as an acquisition instead of Man United for instance, didn't seem to accurately reflect how unwilling the Glazers appear to be in selling. The same applies to the other dominant teams in the league Furthermore, the conclusion that the Saudis could easily compromise in the current situation, seems a total misreading of the wider geopolitical context. Even if there was some kind of effort there, surely the extent of political will involved, would inevitably be tempered because of everything else going on in this dispute. Caulkin falling back on his 'no red flags' rhetoric was plainly ridiculous as well, considering these issues I could be just interpreting this all the wrong way, but having listened to it, I really just don't see how this situation can be resolved in a positive manner The takeover seems to be have been irrevocably placed within the scope of this geopolitical war

Why do you not go and support another club then, as the only thing I have seen you contribute on within the footballing part of the forum is the takeover and your anti-thoughts on it. Do you have to support the takeover to support the club now? That seems to be the consensus on here anyway. You don't have to. But if you feel that strong toward Saudi owned Newcastle, then the only logical thing for you if the takeover is approved is to stop supporting Newcastle. Sadly it kinda feels like a logical choice, it won't be the same. I just hope it won't go through, I know I'm in the minority and i understand people disagreeing with that. Being in favour of the takeover, and defending Saudi Arabia is two different things though. I can understand wanting the takeover, but people on here defending Saudi Arabia is just baffling in my honest opinion. They really are horrible. To be honest, based off the general tone and content of your posts, you have never seemed to recognise that distinction If that's the case I apologize. But people were smearing Khashoggi and his widow fiancee earlier in the thread, when you do and say that, it's way beyond just being in favour of the takeover. I realize that that's of course a minority on here, and I was unclear in my replies earlier, as to whom i was referring to. No worries, totally get where you’re coming from

I've spent countless months working in Saudi, I know enough of their failings first hand (and good points) as a country, and I'll certainly be critical of them when appropriate. There's lots wrong with Saudi Arabia politically. But you know what? I judge the owner of my football club on the basis of how they run the football club. Mike Ashley has catastrophically failed there. I'm not a journalist, I'm not an MP, I'm not an Amnesty International activist. I'm just a football fan, and Newcastle are my club, they always will be. Ultimately, my primary judgement on the owner of my club will be based on how they run that club. Provided that aspect is done well, I'll leave the finger-pointing and tutting to those whose job it is to tut and point fingers at those other things. I will probably even vocally agree with them whilst they do it, but I can let shit slide to a large extent if we're being well-run. And by well-run, I couldn't give a toss about winning anything, I just want a well-run club which tries its hardest to compete and uses its own revenue to reinvest in its facilities and staff. If the British government see fit to keep trading with the Saudis and the Queen will have lunch with them, then why should football fans be expected to hound them out and deny themselves the pleasure of supporting a team which is being well-run and hell, may even win something for the first time in the memory of anyone who doesn't actually need drugs to survive? What I've had over the last decade and a bit is a shell of a club, with a man owning it stripping all the revenue out of it so the club shops are just re-badged Sports Directs and we get nothing from the sales, we don't get the catering money, half the adverts are for SD with him paying a token fee for the privilege. He just uses us as a glorified advertising hoarding for his tatty, chav sports shops, targeting 17th each year whilst spending the least he humanly can just so he can keep that advertising hoarding on TV whilst stating openly that trying to win a cup doesn't make economical sense ffs. Screw enduring even a single second more of that, it's fucking miserable. If this goes through I may hate the new owners for their politics, but I'll take them gladly to end a decade of hating the whole club which is far worse, so that I can fill what has frankly become a void in my life on match days. I'll take so that I can stop wanting my own team to lose because getting out of the Premier League for an extended period seemed the only way to get rid of Ashley so I could have a team that actually tries again, even if in a lower division, a team whose successes, however relative, and however modest would at least be something I could enjoy because the club would be trying to improve. Not being able to support your own football club is horrible, and it's not like most of us can pick another one either. I just want a team to support again, even if I can't support the owners. I just want to enjoy matchdays again, supporting a club that wants to be the best it can be. Football has always been a big part of my life from my childhood onwards, I've been stuck in limbo for a decade and that vacuum has been awful. So no, I cannot and will not ever oppose this takeover. Great post and pretty much encapsulates my thoughts on the takeover too

Arteta stamping his authority

Fucking hell, I know there's (inexplicably) no timescale on these tests, but the geopolitical issues that are being raised around this takeover now don't seem to be the kind of issues can be neatly resolved, if ever You're surely talking years for Saudi Arabia even to build up the relations necessary to work with BEIN

How about beating Spurs away? How about beating Man United at home? How about beating Chelsea at home? How about doing the double over Sheffield United without conceding? How about doing the double over Southampton? How about doing the double over Bournemouth? How about 3 home losses this season in 17 games? Is that VERY POOR? Alex Bruce has logged back on it seems Why even quote my post if you are not even going to bother to engage with it in a meaningful way? You don’t even address the point I’m making and then you hysterically hurry your way through a whatabout tour of Bruce’s achievements We have lost THREE games at home. And you're moaning about home form. Incredible. We’ve dropped TEN points at home to relegation-threatened sides in the league That was the only point I was making, however way you want to spin it, it’s poor. Fans at other clubs would be looking back at saying the same if they had the same record. Again, you’ve not engaged with the point I’m actually making, third time’s a charm? Of course I’m being selective, because my post was solely our record about the bottom 6 clubs you complete idiot This
