  1. Bound to be a threat from set pieces. They honestly all look like short arses. Think Barcola is the tallest lad they’ve got on atm.
  2. Also didn’t celebrate that as I thought Burn was offside. Fuck VAR.
  3. Grown right into that. Fully deserved. FUCKING COME ON LADS
  4. Think we’ve grown into it last 10/15 minutes but we’re still just not a threat. Hoping we can keep it at 1-0 and make whatever changes we can to give us a bit.
  5. Hope this ref’s flight hyem goes down in flames. Absolute cunt.
  6. Already at the wishing death stage on this cunt of a ref. Hopeless prick. Hope his house is burning down right now.
  7. Midfield totally AWOL. Can’t get a foot on the ball. Gonna be minging, this.
  8. Perhaps, if we were at full strength. Bruno only just coming back for us is a huge blow on top of Joelinton’s absence. Game plan is obviously trying to soak up as much pressure as we can whilst getting legs and pace on the break and around Woltemade.
  9. Bruno’s not fully fit. If he starts and breaks down again people will kick off. Joelinton is injured again. Shock. We were always going to be on the back foot, hence the 3 CBs. Willock’s been poor when coming on recently but he played well when he started at Marseille and was carrying the ball well like the 22/23 version of him again. I can see the logic especially with Bruno not being fit. It’s a back 5 with legs and pace in midfield and hopefully around Woltemade. Was going to be tough even full strength, so I fully expect rational reactions across the fanbase to tonight.

    Joelinton

I agree and he has been better recently but that replacement you’ve mentioned that we don’t have should’ve been signed. That’s another topic though. A blow to lose him, again, especially due his recent showings but given his current injury record it’s hardly a surprise.

    Joelinton

Yep. And it goes under the radar a bit how much of a crock he is.

    Joelinton

Assuming ‘a few weeks’ is 3 weeks and 6 games, he’ll have missed 51 games since the start of 2023-24. Only Callum Wilson and Sven Botman have missed more for us in that period through injury.
  13. BEEEWWWWW Not as good as the ones at Goodison. Don’t reverberate as much. 4/10.
  14. A Calvert-Lewin goal and Leeds win here and I may make my first foray into Everton Spaces in a while.
  15. No idea why he didn't try that yesterday with Villa's high line in the first half tbh.
  16. Dunno, like. If we contrived to win this as unlikely as it is having 2 free midweek slots next month would be massive. If we had to toss a game off I'd rather it be Man City next week.
  17. PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN @ Parc des Princes Soooo...the league stage all comes down to this. Contrive to win competitively for the first time in France since we beat Sochaux in 2004 and we are in the top 8 and straight into the round of 16. No more CL games until March. Fail to win and it's the knock out playoffs, both legs in February. The club that stands in our way is one we're quite familiar with. LAST TIME OUT? Heh. I think you all remember. Whilst the game against PSG at SJP was magical, the following two matches and subsequent defeats against Dortmund were much less so. By November time in 2023-24 we had a mounting injury list to the point where the subsititutes bench were full of either goalkeepers or children. And the trip to PSG was no different. We had come off the back of a hilarious 4-1 home win against Chelsea and went to Paris with qualification looking a bit hopeful. PSG boasted the likes of Mbappe, Hakimi, Dembele and Asensio. We did not make a single substitution in the match due to it consisting of Dubravka, Karius, Dummett, Hall, Huntley, Ndiweni and Parkinson. And yet; We found ourselves 0-1 up with Donnarumma parrying a tame shot straight to the path of a rat who scored his 1 and only CL goal to date. Desperate but hearty defending and PSG missing golden chances throughout the second half strongly suggested we were to get a famous away CL win, our first since 2003. However as the 8 minutes stoppage time creeped into the final couple of minutes the Polish referee Szymon Marciniak, who refereed the 2022 World Cup final, waved away a penalty claim for handball against Livramento as PSG grew desperate. Despite a very strong performance by Marciniak up to this point, he was called to the screen. Replays clearly showed the ball bounce off of Livramento's midriff and onto his arm as he was running; in no way a handball offence. Yet, he inexplicably awarded PSG a penalty. Mbappe equalised and our fate in qualifying for the RO16 was no longer in our hands. The draw meant that PSG were 2 points and 1 goal better off than us going into the final game. If you want to rewatch the agony; The teams that night; PSG: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Skriniar, Pereira, Hernandez, Ruiz, Ugarte, Lee, Dembele, Kolo Muani, Mbappe NUFC: Pope, Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Livramento, Guimaraes, L.Miley, Joelinton, Almiron, Gordon, Isak WHAT ABOUT THEM NOW? Under Luis Enrique they seem to have gone through a culture change. Gone are the days of big money, big name signings to some extent and nurturing of younger players has seen them build quite a side. Last season, they breezed to the Champions League, their first in their history and the first French winners since Marseille in 1993. They sit top of Ligue 1, 2 points clear of 2nd place Lens. They won 1-0 away at Auxerre on Friday night, but lost 2-1 away at Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League the previous Tuesday. Their Champions League record is identical to ours with 4 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats, same points, same goal difference. 1 home defeat, 1 away defeat, 1 away draw. Their 1 home defeat came against Bayern Munich who played a whole half of the match with 10 men. Bradley Barcola is their top scorer in the league, Goncalo Ramos is top scorer in all competitions. Dembele after winning the Ballon d'Or has yet to find last season's form. HOW WELL DO WE DO IN FRANCE? 2025-26; lost 2-1 v Marseille (Champions League) 2023-24; drew 1-1 v PSG (Champions League) 2012-13; lost 2-0 v Bordeaux (Europa League) 2004-05; won 0-4 v Sochaux (UEFA Cup) 2003-04; lost 2-0 v Marseille (UEFA Cup) 2001-02; drew 0-0 v Troyes (Intertoto Cup) 1996-97; lost 3-0 v Monaco (UEFA Cup) 1996-97; drew 1-1 v Metz (UEFA Cup) 1977-78; lost 2-1 v Bastia (UEFA Cup) ANY TIES BETWEEN THE CLUBS? I think yesterday on top of our known quality of being fucking shite away from home has sapped a lot of appetite for this. Another Gallic trip it is, then. One of the toughest fixtures possible, but not entirely mission impossible. A win and it will save us another 2 midweek slots which given our fixture pile up would be massive. To those going, stay safe in Paris. Fingers crossed a fantastic result for us is brought home. Howay the lads!
  18. Aston Villa never win at SJP. Think that Liverpool game on Saturday will tell a lot about where this season goes imo. The mackems, Leeds, Burnley and Forest were all able to get results there this season. If it’s another meek surrender there, this season can get in the bin.
  19. It’s not even the black and white of goals per se, it’s the total lack of creativity. Work the ball wide and lump it in is the order of play. Absolutely nowt from central areas.
  20. Can’t remember us looking so toothless at home, mind. Not since the cabbage was in charge certainly.
  21. Same substitutions every time.
  22. Really poor showing that. In the final third we are appalling especially without Bruno. No one capable of creating a thing in open play other than him. Did think Botman was brilliant though and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
