  1. Completely random thought and no idea which thread it would go in but given that clubs like Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool have their own font for players' namesets on shirts for European football (and the FA Cup), if we were to qualify for Europe I'd love us to recreate the 1995-97 font. Would look lush. Utterly random but there you go.
  2. No....I think he hates football....it’s just another irritant to him....all that concerns him is his SD Agree, I think he's done with football personally. He's done well out of it, but he's shown no inclination to buy lower profile clubs within his budget. Can't see the fat cunt buying Sunderland after having owned Newcastle. Just too much of a climbdown even for him. He'd be a public laughing stock. Didn't he get involved with Oldham ? Sports Direct were their shirt sponsors for five years. Ended recently though. Ah was it just a shirt sponsor was it? I thought he was involved deeper into the club somehow. I seem to remember that Boundary Park was renamed SportsDirect.com Park at some point but I'm not 100% sure on that. Think it was just SD publicity he used/uses Oldham for.
  3. I didn't renew this season due to Rafa leaving et cetera but also because of being at uni. My seat wasn't bought by anyone and me and my dad are not sure if it was taken by one of the free season tickets as a bloke was sat in my old seat for the Everton game, the first game in which the free tickets kicked in, but hasn't been back since and my old seat has remained empty ever since then. Part of me thinks that everyone around my old seat are ST holders (which wouldn't surprise me as it's in the East Stand and the people around me when I went were the same ones for years) so my seat is a singular seat around loads of STs. Hopefully that gives me a bit of a chance for getting it back. Be gutted if I don't.

  5. I'm actually kinda struggling to come to terms that Ashley is actually fucking off. And the club is being bought by super rich people. Last time our club was free of his rancid stewardship I was 6, going on 7. Good god, man.
  6. Gutted to have missed out, seemed cracking.
  7. The mackems would take 17th in the PL season in, season out as long they 'beat the mags'. Shocking excuse of a football club. Match made in heaven.
  8. Will have to pull out of taking part in this unfortunately. All the obsessing over the takeover has completely distracted me from uni work due tomorrow. Livid
  9. I personally hope we never move from SJP though the Gallowgate land is an issue. Will it be bought back? Can it? If so, I'd just extend the Gallowgate and completely modernise the ground; concourses, facilities, bars, food, drink, seats, everything. But the place is just special; it's location, it's appearance. Just can't imagine us moving away.
  10. This is a good video on how his Juventus team played pre-Ronaldo. Who knows, he may well be up for that, he's spoken about wanting to manage in England at some point in his career. That we were able to attract Rafa even with Ashley might suggest we still hold some weight in the world of football. With Ashley gone and money available we may seem like a decent project. I'm inherently biased though.
  11. Some games under Rafa the atmosphere was proper canny. Palace and Spurs when he tried to keep us up, Leeds and Barnsley in the Championship, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea in our first season back, Everton, Southampton and Liverpool last season. And that's all just from the top of my head. Obviously the atmosphere will never be what it was in the 90s, the acoustics of the stadium at 52k rather than 34-36k probably affect that. But it can still be good.
  12. My first game was 2006, only really known shite and Ashley. I would watch games from the Keegan era on YouTube and be jealous of fans who lived through that, particularly 1993/94. Here's hoping for something like that.
  13. I’m very much not in that camp but I wouldn’t bring him back. I loathe Bruce as much as Pardew, Carver and Ashley and largely despise the matchgoers but I think a fresh start is called for as much as I enjoyed the reign of Rafa and the professionalism and authority he brought. I kinda agree with you here. Who'd you gan for then Disco? Allegri, Pochettino or someone else?
  14. The way he uses someone's murder to facilitate a sly dig at Joelinton is really poor.
  15. Absolutely. I hope something organic remains because I've never felt envy of thy elite clubs, and not out of simply being contrary, either. My envy has been towards those clubs who've wanted to better themselves within their means. But you can't help but read stuff like that and think, wow. That article in the Daily Fail talking about their plans, christ. That's the one. ⬇️
  16. Agreed, though Juve still don't always fill their ground. Rarely gets above 41,000.
  17. Who wrote it? The article is bang on Oliver Holt. Though some past tweets of his make it seem a tad hypocritical on his part. Ah whey.
  18. Article from the same journalist who defended the presence of the AJ-Ruiz fight in Saudi.
  19. Wish we'd do what Man Utd do and sing older songs about past players like, say, Supermac, John Tudor, Mirandinha, Shearer etc. Bit of an odd selection of players but still.
  20. How that bloke has a job as a journalist is bewildering, worst sports reporter I have ever known by a country mile I know circumstances in football change quickly but Ryder last season tweeting a video of him saying the Almiron deal was dead and then the following evening it came out everywhere that we'd agreed terms with Atlanta for him was canny funny.
