I understand this but I think they need more than cup games. They need experience of being a footballer, day in day out. In an ideal world they'd be loaned to a level just above their ability in order to challenge them and see if they've got what it takes to step up.

I can't see it myself. He was a world away from a PL position before Mike turned up jangling his jeans pockets. He's done nothing to improve that standing, beyond adding to his number of PL games. He might get a chance at an ambitious but foolhardy mid champo club, but nobody with pretensions for PL will have him on their radar, unless it's a big fat warning to avoid. At least the likes of Allardyce and Pullis, even Warnock, offer some sort of reputation that you could put faith in.

Lascelles isn't on the line as last man preventing a definite goal. It's likely a goal but there are other obstacles behind Lascelles that might have prevented a goal.

Don't think it applies to a handball though. And that's right IMO. A striker still has to finish if he doesn't get fouled which is similar to a penalty chance. Handling the ball where it would otherwise be a goal should be red.
