Burton Albion vs Newcastle United - 17/12/16 @ 3pm (not on TV)
Happinesstan replied to Dave's topic in Football
Anything is possible today, but if the lads start focussed it could be the perfect game for the way we've been playing recently. I can't see Burton sitting back, and if we get a lead they will not give up. We should be able to exploit them on the counter. It could all go tits up if they score first. -
f*** him. I'm holding a grudge I admit it. No grudge here, He made his decision to leave, he hasn't held down a 1st team spot, he has been coached for a year by Pardew and we know the effect that has on a player. Look for other options. Not even been there 6 months yet Yeah. I was looking ahead to next season.

He is a good player, but he needs a good manager. Benitez got him playing well, after McClaren struggled. Now Pardew is struggling to get the best out of him. It's no shock. s**** manager, s**** results. I don't think he's great by any stretch but he has decent end product and pace to burn. He's yet to even hold down a regular starting over the course of a season, and as for end product, during his time with us he almost doubled his career total of premier league goals, that tells you how unproductive he was before he came to us. Or how productive he was under a decent manager.

We absolutely should not buy for the championship. Loans to cover injuries and AFCON, any purchase should be for next season. Agree. Shouldn't even be thinking about spending big. Imagine spending 20M on a no10 and he gets injured playing in this Mickey Mouse league. Obviously if somebody is available at a bargain then it's less of a risk. Is Judge fit yet?

Ha! Reminds me of a game of football manager. Playing a friendly against the reserves, so behind closed doors, subbed taylor and the tosser only went and applauded the fans as he left the pitch. Oh we did laugh.

What a strange post How? He sacked Hughton. Different class admittedly, but he was the right man at the time, Except in Ashleys blurred vision of what the fans wanted. He sacked Hughton so he could bring Pardew in on the basis he makes money from player sales. Absolutely nothing to do with the fans. I'm just saying it is an excuse he could use, if Pardew became available on a free. "There was definitely discontent amongst the fans, with regards to the brand of football we were playing. Just look at the forums."

Enjoying this thread way more than I ever expected to. I shouldn't, but what can you do?

I'm not going to complain. I watched it on TV, I didn't enjoy it. But Newcastle United Football Club are not in the business of making good TV. If you went to the match and didn't enjoy yourself then maybe get some books on how to make the most of a day out. Complaining about the lack of entertainment just gives Ashley a reason to sack Rafa and claim he is doing it in response to the fans demands. "We're delighted with the job Rafa did in getting us back to the Premiership, but felt Alan Pardew's front-foot football is what the fans deserve"
-
He's done enough at RB, under Rafa, to suggest he could maybe be an option in the middle. If needed. If we are afforded space he could be effective running from midfield.

I can't really explain why but I've always had a soft spot for Little Vurn. Always hoped he would come good but it became more and more likely that he never would. Since Rafa arrived he's turned that right on it's head. Lush that the fans were singing his name this weekend.
