Chubby is back -
You'd be forgiven for thinking Madrid's game plan was to just hack Messi out of the game You could see why mind, he's only gone and been the difference maker (again).

When are the powers at the top o football going to wake up and realise that referees need more help? Took them an age to get goal line technology in and taking another age to get something like a vid ref in for match critical decisions. It's clearly too hard a job at the top of the game for humans to cope, even the very best refs make match critical mistakes now and again. too much human error easily showing up in today's fast paced game.
-
Sad day when refs are so bad in the country, but they can't be replaced because the only people in line to replace them are even more shocking. As we found out this year with EFL refs. So bobby Madley and co will still get paid £100,000 at year to make consistant f*** ups. It's the only English refs are good at being consistent at right? Getting things consistently wrong

If it's any consolation to Sky the Villa tossers will still be down below next year. They've decent viewing rates like us. Wonder how long it will take for the record league attendance of 52,300 to be broken. A very long time I am thinking. -
Not half as interesting as Barca vs Real in the last 8 for example. Personally I like seeing the biggest and best teams fight it out late on in the competition. For a quarter or more of them to go out at the group stage because of an unlucky draw would suck in my opinion. Also unfrotunately from a pure financial perspective UEFA will always want the big teams in the late rounds if possible. Loads more people will be hyped for a Bayern vs Real quarter final than a Leicester vs Genk one and more would tune in, etc. The biggest games with the biggest and best teams are just more attractive to most.
-
To be fair it stops games like Leicester vs Genk for example happening in the last 16 or 8. Groups may be more interesting at the expense of the knockout phase. Depending on the quality of your team you could also have the competition practically won after the group stage if you were to knockout 2 of your biggest rivals early on. Also smaller European clubs make more money when drawn with the big clubs and major attractions.

It's clear referees are in dire need of more help at the top of the game. We're seeing far too many match critical decisions go wrong these days. Sooner they figure out the best way to help the better. And scrap the paid spectators, sorry, 5th and 6th officials they really do next to fuck all and that's being kind. Personally would welcome video refs for match critical decisions. Yeah the game might have to stop for a moment or two but it be worth it to avoid seeing teams lose out unfairly.

There is hate for pretty much every club on here I have noticed even our own by some Leicester are a small irrelevant club, even after their one off title winning season, who gives a fuck about them?

Same with Bournemouth when they went up. They celebrated on the pitch in their final home game but could have still been technically caught if a 20 odd goal difference was overturned. If Huddersfield draw and we win on Monday common sense says we may as well celebrate. The chances of Huddersfield catching up on that many goals in the last two games is about to likely to happen as 100 people on this forum winning the lotto all in a short space of time of one another. Extremely unlikely to happen in other words. -

Have to say if I could one team out of the 5 or 6 fighting to avoid 22nd place to go down it would probably be Birmingham. Just to sicken their foolish owners. Forest, despite their cuntiness, I would opt to have stay up because it's not a club that belongs in tier 3 Blackburn either. Burton I hope stay up just so the Mackems can laugh at themselves playing them this time. 'We never played Burton Marra'. Yeah we'll see about that lads, we shall see about that. -

Never mind 2nd place Huddersfield need to win on Saturday to be sure of a playoff spot. Fulam and Sheffield Wednesday sneaking right up on them. -

7 points from 3 games we'll need. I really don't trust us to achieve it. We need Huddersfield to drop points from somewhere desperately as the max I can see us getting is 4. -

Fuck me, 10th defeat of the season. Shambolical. -
Very good game from him yesterday. Would have won us a peno also were it not for the shockingly bad officials in this league.
-
They're fucked regardless. No way they're getting 15 + points from here. It's finally happening. Justice is finally happening.

Huddersfield I expect will win their last three so we've got to hope they can drop points against Fulham and Derby to make life easier for us. If they lose just one of those games we only need to win two of our four to seal the deal. It's not over yet but getting close. -
If we do nothing else this summer please sell this useless fuck.

So match stats are even more misleading than I thought. So if a shot beats the keeper and is going in but there's two players on the line one slightly ahead of the other. The one slightly ahead of the last guy clears it from going directly in the goal. Is it on target still? Since it technically wasn't stopped by a defender who is the last man.
-
I don't think so. A defender clearing off the line would be from a shot on target for example. I thought the same, but the stats from Sky said we'd only had one shot on target which is bollocks. Maybe it has to be stopped by the last player. Must be the stats guy's off day. When a shot goes in off a defender it's not necessarily an OG if the shot was on target anyway is another example. So the goaly is definitely not necessary. That's wrong. Is it? My understanding is that if it deflects of a defender and the shot was original off target it's a OG. But if it deflects off him but was on target anyway the shot taker gets credit.
