I don’t know much about NUFC.com but what exactly in that paragraph is new information? I thought that’s what we’d been told was going to happen by pretty much every reputable journalist?

Firstly, about 10 posts above the one I posted people were speculating saying “does anyone believe it’s done and just waiting for an announcement”. Then the post I quoted said “if it’s done”. I replied saying it isn’t done, and then proceeded to tell you the truth, as backed up by Wullie, about how I know beyond reasonable doubt that it isn’t done yet (at least not as of Friday night). There’s no claiming to be in the know...there’s just facts from the only journalists worth listening to. Fucking bizarre thing to get het up over when you have RS and other posters in this thread regularly spouting any old bullshit that have no basis in fact at all. But, go for it. Get pissy about someone sharing some info from a journalist. ?

What you don't appear to be grasping is that it's possible that the PL have completed their checks but that it isn't public knowledge yet. Just because you've been told something by journalists close to the buyers, doesn't necessarily mean that is exactly where things stand. I'd also doubt that the first public statement comes from GC; it'll come more NUFC if anyone. I give up I think it’s pretty fair to be 99% assured of where things are when that info comes directly from the buyers side, like. You know, rather than just “having a feeling that it’s done and dusted” like some posts have said in the last 24 hours ? Your mistake was coming on here like some ITK when all you did was say what was already public knowledge and what we all knew anyway. FFS man...my post was specifically in response to someone trying to claim that it was done. So I shared what I was told on Friday by the only trusted journalists we have. Give it a rest.

OK, I should have worded my post as "according to our best journalists knowledge" the takeover is still with the PL (as of Friday).

Why do you think that, considering he regularly replies publicly when people ask him for an update? Just look at his profile. I don't doubt that he has replied to you, but that if he did know that it's all done, he'll still be saying to you and everyone else that it's still with the PL. One message from him saying it's done and it will be all over twitter with the screenshot ending his source connection with Staveley. Both George and Chris say that if they know about it, we'll be told straight away... George said it last week on Twitter. Anyway... I've sent Wullie the screenshot. Richard Masters of the PL said the other day that if we don't finish the season we run the risk of losing £1bn worth of revenue. That's why it needs to be finished. Regardless what you think of the economy vs health argument, they can't run the risk of that many clubs being so badly affected financially.

As much as I detest them from a sporting rivalry point of view, and can't believe the idiocy of the hardcore Ready To Go lot... I have a lot of friends and neighbours that are SAFC fans and they're all dead canny and just like us, they want what's best for their club. I don't find them to be small time or obsessed at all. In fact, I find that we have an awful lot in common. Both massive underachievers who've been dreadfully mismanaged over the years. I don't get the attitude on here that people would like to see them disappear / go bust. That would be a horrendous thing for the region and for the local community. I'm very much in the camp that would like to see them competitive in the PL but not as good as us I love derby day. I love the rivalry. I'd love it even more if we were one of the top countries in the country taking part in it. If you watch Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix, I struggle to see how you'd wish any of their genuine backroom staff any harm whatsoever. These are real people with families and mortgages and passion. They don't deserve that.
