  1. Finally, the thread yields something good. Nice one man that's great stuff
  2. Fucking hell, I really hope the minority of idiots in our fan base stop with this making the Saudi's enemies our own thing. Really dodgy grounds. They may be about to own our football club but it doesn't mean we have to be in alliance with them. We will have to get used to things like these letters/meetings etc. as it will be an ongoing thing, hopefully over time we all become a bit more skilful when responding.
  3. They should call Charlie Methven, he knows all about that.
  4. I only saw him in a couple of games and he looked class then. I'm not sure what the manager was seeing the rest of the time, he must have been really shit in training. I'm sure he said he wasn't entirely happy here as he didn't feel he was ready for the physicality. We have to remember we signed him when he was 17 or 18 from his home country, it's a pretty big ask and the club was/is having a pretty rough time. He probably could have moved somewhere bigger than Young Boys but the fact he chose to return to Switzerland says something imo. By the looks of what I've seen since, he'd be more than capable in this league now. Well that's strange because in that televised match where he was outstanding, his physicality stood out. Pretty sure when we let him go, most of us on here were against him leaving on the Mbabu thread. Absolutely, but what I mean is perhaps the decision to let him go was for personal reasons - rather than him not being deemed good enough.
  5. I'm doubtful Zaha would offer good value for money. I don't think there's that much between him and Saint-Maximin. Zaha just wins out due to longevity and experience, he's hardly a goal machine. There's better options out there, I like Ante Rebic but he's went to Milan on loan, can't seem to settle anywhere for long. Another I'm really impressed by is Krovinovic at West Brom. Skilful player - not explosive like Zaha/ASM, but someone who would strengthen our attack & midfield.

  7. Imagine him on one side Willems on the other Wonder if he would come back or if that ship has sailed...
  8. Can understand lacking match sharpness of course and also a dip in fitness... you would imagine training at home by yourself doesn't have the same intensity as it does when in the group, but the 5 subs per team rule the Bundesliga put in place solves that to a large degree. 6 weeks is excessive, could understand 2.
  9. Love watching Brandt, really elegant player.
  10. Mad that this is happening really, but I’m glad it is. Weird as fuck watching the subs walk out with masks on and take their seats 2m from eachother.
  11. Aye, and the patience of the fans during the losing streak at the start of the season back. Went against all the ideas that we hound out all of our manager like we did with Sir Bobby. Meanwhile they were changing managers with the seasons (and not even the football kind).
  12. Recipe for disaster, stands filled with cut outs of tyrannical rulers, serial killers etc. with the odd happy nuclear family
  13. What are fans of other football clubs talking about on their forums? At least we have the takeover to discuss. Everton fans are talking about our takeover a lot and, my word, they absolutely fucking hate us. If it goes through then, with the Mackems out of the picture, we have a new enemy. In fact their board members on Grand Old Team are uncannily similar to those on RTG. Bitter doesnt even come close. They seem to do the whole 'we're a bigger club than...' thing a lot, same as a lot of Sunderland fans but also our fans too. Really Newcastle & Everton are similar 'sized' clubs. I'm not a fan of theirs though, never have been for some reason but it was emphasised when one of their fans with his little bairn in one arm decided to punch Bertrand Traore of Lyon in a Europa league game.
  14. Newcastle is twinned with Gelsenkirchen afterall.
  15. I swear that every day that passes moves the completion date 2 days further away. Even Sisyphus would have gone "Nah, this is just getting silly" by now.
  16. I bet in reality all that had happened was his dad had fixed the household henry hoover.
  17. Depends how we would plan to set up I guess, 3 at the back then maybe... he'd be in contention with Lejeune though because there's no way he gets in ahead of Schar and you need a Fede/Lascelles type in there too.
  18. I'll pass on Stones like. Although it was the first beer I ever tried when I was about 11.
