  1. Aye, and be shaped like the silhouette of Shearer with a celebratory arm in air.
  2. Thing I'll be most looking forward to in the short term is seeing Schar back in the team under a manager who can use him properly, as he's still our best player when he's in form imo. Class above.
  3. Aye, it's not somebody just having a laugh I don't think, there's far too much content on the website that you just wouldn't bother setting up, writing, gather resources for if it was a troll on the back of the takeover talk. That said, I wouldn't believe a word of what I read on it.
  4. That was a good read that, and I agree that he was as good as anyone in the world on his day. My favourite player of all time, he embodies everything I loved football for as a kid, where in your area or local sunday league there was that one kid that everyone knew that was just levels above everyone else, seemed to possess a majestic quality, effortless & untouchable almost. Hatem managed to carry the ability to provoke that same feeling into professional football and the fact he done it for Newcastle in his best years (other than Nice arguably) just cements him at the top for me.
  5. Imagine being called mental by Matt Ritchie
  6. Groan. Ludicrous that, like. Weird. Poor decision. Aye. I'm sure our prospective Muslim owner/majority shareholder will love having his face on a can of beer.
  7. Site is down. All that money and can't even invest in a stable server, even Mike can get a website live. #betterthedevilyouknow
  8. Perhaps there has, but it's not based on any firm grounds. People are of course just anxious about it and any negative 'murmur' is getting magnified.
  9. I really like him, comes across as a sound guy and is very popular amongst the players by all accounts. I think we all agree we need to upgrade the position even prior to takeover talk, and personally if I was to keep one of Manquillo or Yedlin as back up, I'd go with Manquillo. Yedlin has done well for us though. I think Willems coming in really shone a light on what a quality wing back can bring to a team. I still think he has to improve defensively which is something I'd trust Rafa with. A similar player on the right would be fantastic, that said out of the 3 players mentioned, Manquillo is the best defender by a decent margin imo.
  10. Aye, they also need to convert 80% of 300 million from Saudi currency to gbp. Possibly not available at the click of a finger. No concerns from me, the timeline seems to be moving along steadily and as expected. Would the Saudis not hold that sort of cash in Dollars. Its how Oil is traded isn't it ? Perhaps, I’m not sure. I just figured if you’re transferring this amount of money, you’re going to want to convert it prior to avoid ridiculous charges? PIF owns Gulf International bank so presumably they would use whatever reserves of the currency the bank has or maybe look to Staveley? I don’t know tbh.
  11. I heard swift is used for transactions of this size which takes no less than 2 days but often anywhere up to 5. And it might not be made instantly if they don’t have hundreds of millions of gdp on hand had need to convert currency first.

  13. Not sure if shared before, but these two are lawyers & Newcastle fans and have been doing updates on the takeover and companies house changes. They're pretty good at explaining what everything means and how these things work on what timelines.
  14. Definitely this, and plus I want to see him put his glasses into his pocket when the whistle blows at full time in the FA cup final.
  15. I think what you've just touched on there is absolutely true. Whilst I agree, to play devil's advocate one could say that there's a difference between the kind obscured nature and lack of/difference in reporting on deaths at the hands of capitalism and the direct, explicit nature of actions relating to our potential owners. However I would say it's just a difference in delivery, it's the suicide bombing versus the silent strike of the drone.
  16. Thanks man, looks cool - I'll check it out
  17. I do get what you're saying, but I'm not expecting our new owner's morality to align completely with my own, lets face it most billonaires are cunts, I'd be pissed if Bezos bought us. But its levels man. At the very least I expect our owners to not be actual murderers. There are in betweens. I hate Ashley but there is simply no argument that as a human being he's better than MBS. I'd take a detestable billionaire that invests in the club, which is possible. It happens at plenty of other clubs all the time. I can't refute any of that. I just think good and bad things happen in precise proportion to one another, an example is those personality types that have huge soaring highs and crashing, crushing lows... whereas others sort of just bob above and below the neutral line, and in a sense that's what we're seeing here. We all have to look at our own selves and see (or speculate) what relationship we're likely to have with NUFC under this probable new regime. Can the two (the owners actions and the success of our club) be reconciled? I'd guess not, it would be quite the stretch. Can each be held in separate hands despite the conflict and uncomfortable feeling, and will it be possible to be fully educated on matters in Saudi Arabia and speak about it/against it where necessary, whilst also still enjoying the (possible) success of the club? It's not as easy as some people are making it out imo, on both sides of the matter.
  18. I think something worth noting is the idea that there's a price to pay for pretty much everything in life. You could say it's a product of the inherent dualism of this current experience. That even when you create a positive change in your life in some way, there's always a price to pay, you gain a piece but you lose one too. Now I'm not using this to make any semblance of a hint that accepting the Saudi's obvious problems as 'the price' is the thing to do, but instead raising the idea that whilst we all would love to find ourselves in this perfect situation where morality aligns with all of our desires for our football club to progress is unfortunately quite unlikely. You imagine the noble owner with a clean track record, and you get that sense of pride, of feeling connected to the club, but maybe you sacrifice success. Or you imagine the incredibly wealthy owners, with no connection to the club, the area, the fans, but pots of money to spend and plenty to criticise them for... neither option is going to satisfy everybody. Gives and takes away.
  19. I don't think people are being serious It got out of hand but it was basically a response to the question 'are people able to divorce themselves from attachment to anything ie. art as they are able to do with this club if the Saudi's become involved?'. Just to clear it up. No nonce appreciation here, apart from Mandoon. (it's a joke)
  20. That's a myth, nobody ever did. Whereas Michael Jackson, bangers for days, bhaisaab.
  21. I've still got Jacko on my playlist PYT is just too good isn't it. Decent point, but where I’m from as a far bigger part of me than a musician or band. Personally it defines me far more. Still conflicted though. I know what you mean, I guess there's an element of personal value structures tied into that too. For me personally, art is as big a part of my life as just about anything else. But regardless, that was the point I was touching on, that inner conflict that is very complex, and the apparent ability of some to not succumb to any of that and just divorce any attachment. It's interesting to me because when I'm heavily invested into something, the prospect of changing my relationship with that thing is a challenging one and certainly not something that can be done with immediate effect; as if that thing of value pervades multiple areas of your life which is quite likely, that's a lot of untangling to do.
  22. I've still got Jacko on my playlist PYT is just too good isn't it. Notwithstanding the awful taste in music, he wasn’t proved guilty of anything though he likely is a massive nonce. I don’t listen to Lostprophets anymore, even though dragon vs shinobi ninja is a legit banger Had on a sec, you can't say somebody has an awful taste in music for mentioning Michael Jackson then go on to reference Lost Prophets as good
