One day I'll figure out the point of Scott McTominay.

Been working today so haven’t had time to watch the full match, but the chunks I saw: what a performance. Big Joe turning in to a Brazilian Roy Keane will never not make me smile. Him just screaming “how?!” after his yellow was perfect.

I'm convinced Souness attempted something similar to the Forest routine during his time here but can't remember the game (he wouldn't stand for the handholding in the video, real men don't hold hands with anyone ever)

Conte and Tuchel with the “divorced dads coaching their kid’s football” looks on the sideline today.

Most will be freelance who will scout for other clubs, but will get maybe more coin if they recommend a player to one particular club over the other if that player gets signed. Not many clubs have a dedicated in house scouting team. I wish Mandoon was around he could maybe clarify. Many clubs will work with agents first or most over scouts for example as well. It’s hard to tell with Man Utd though, their recruitment has been shocking for a club of their size, stature, prestige and the money they can pay in transfer fess and offer in wages.
Michael Calvin wrote a pretty good book about the scouting industry a few years back called The Nowhere Men. It's more than likely a bit out of date by now, but thought it was an interesting glimpse in to the area.

The Ringer is now writing about Newcastle: Newcastle United’s Saudi Ownership Prompts Debate Across Premier League
Article is okay...it's not great by any stretch of the imagination. I think it comes from being a fan, but it glosses over a lot of how fans feel like the club is back and their own again.
Also this section is trash: "The version of Newcastle that I was watching represented the very last embers of the club before it became a Saudi state project. When it was still … a club. Years from now, will anyone in Newcastle miss these days, when their club was elementally flawed and the fans still filled St. James’ Park? When Newcastle were a regular team, one that reflected the indignities of life in a metaphorical way and left its fans largely despondent and bereft in all sorts of arguably healthy ways?"

We are in a different world for signings now. So many extra add on clauses. Just little things like champions league appearance bonus or winning the league/cups etc. Up until the takeover no club was cruel enough to suggest even mentioning those things in negotiations, at least not without bursting into laughter... with Charley nervously chuckling along with them not understanding the joke.
Still feels a bit like bizarro world seeing even potential signings after 14 years of Ashley.

Great honest and open interview by Longstaff and fantastic insight into the relationship building in the club plus the wisdom and humanity of Howe. Shame to see it used as another opportunity to Bruce bash. Small plea, based on not nothing else but acknowledgement that he is also a person, a local lad who was an exceptional footballer and has no doubt done his best through a long managerial career. He has faced, like lots of us, significant personal loss and, unlike most of us, very public failings and professional disappointments. If you can’t forgive and feel the need to criticise please save the lack of compassion for the toxically named thread, then those of us who feel uncomfortable about reading such stuff can simply stay away.
You forgot to mention the bit about Bruce’s tenants

Anything interesting?
Reporter calls it a massive loss, Eales was hugely influential in their development, etc. Nothing we haven't heard. Hopefully there's a longer episode in the near future to expand on it.

Atlanta's local paper has a short podcast out about Eales leaving. Just listening to it now but seems interesting.

Everytime.
My sister played for our junior national team and she said she knew several teammates who quit due to the pressures their parents placed on them. One dad convinced his daughter to play through a partial MCL tear. That partial tear was a full tear after 20 minutes.

We would do well to actually, as much as I loathe them, have a few agents on the payroll because they have experience in negotiating deals and contacts and can advise the club RE clauses, what a player may end up demanding say after year 3 at the club and so on. Chelsea used to do it and most Italian clubs in the 90s.
For some reason, I thought this specific practice was banned. Or at least I remember that agents needed to wait a certain amount of time from being agents to working with clubs. I could also just be making this up.
