I love that the bit from the article I posted could both easily be an actual comment or a piece of well-written satire.

Completely unsurprising difference in standards from the walking sarnie (via the Mail):
Steve Bruce has demanded West Brom players live within an hour’s drive of the training ground and will extend the rule to potential new signings.
The former Newcastle boss was alarmed to discover several members of his squad live a significant distance from the club’s headquarters and wants to change that in time for next season.
He said: ‘I have told them all (they all have to be within an hour of the training ground). People are going to throw it at me and say: "Are you going to relocate from Cheshire?"
"But it doesn’t work with managers. When we sign a contract we usually get sacked. I have put forward what I would like to do next year – that is a rebuild of the squad."

Pleased to see a lovely amount of drunk posting today.

The passing with all the "ole's!" was the most assured I've seen us look in about a decade. Just ridiculously calm on the ball.

Apologies if it's been posted before but just stumbled upon this podcast with Ben Dawson and found it interesting listening.

Today I learned: Zaha is 29. Every time I see his name mentioned in transfer rumours I think he's 25 tops

Miggy looked ready to go full Ketsbaia for a moment. Amazing ball from Bruno

I refuse to believe that Dewsbury-Hall is not also the name of a Fleet Foxes album

TIL Brendan Dunlop is an absolute whopper.
I remember when he first started out in broadcasting and the hosts of the podcast he interned on would just dunk on him. His tweet is further proof why tbh

Hopefully it's not as much of a shambles as the last one.
I went to the Portland game and the home staff were astounded by how half-arsed Newcastle was approaching their tour. No merchandise etc to sell and little to no communication.

The drum at the Leeds/Watford game is giving me big MLS vibes

Is it not time for PIF to revaluate the manager at the end of the season.
Howe was never the number one target. And his tactics in the second half of the spurs game
was just blown out of the water.
I love how this has developed.

If they're relegated they absolutely are fucked financially. It's a stay of execution in many ways.
Their first team squad is chronically bloated. We're talking like almost 45 players involved this season. They should save about £12m in wages when Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fabian Delph, and Cenk Tosun leave but I'd imagine any available money (before further departures) will be funnelled into central defenders. Yerry Mina isn't bad but he's injury prone. Then you have the English quartet of Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Mason Holgate. It's debatable if any of that group are good enough, let alone good enough to play in a Frank Lampard system.
I totally thought they had been Gylfi after the allegations came out in the summer

Really excited for that growth and for my kids to hopefully join a more structured grass roots game. So much of our team is young, so we'll be competitive in CONCACAF the next decade and beyond, like you say. This is really exciting for the game here.
Forrest was the face of Saturday morning Football (PL mostly, though he did decent analysis of Serie A) here for most of my youth and 20's. He's a great human being, super approachable and you can't help but feel the feels when you see that reaction. He's a great ambassador of the game for Canada, a pro's pro. Whatever that means.
I know Forrest's ex and while she says he's the most boring human ever, him and Gerry Dobson were the face of PL coverage growing up here. Seeing him that excited is pure lovely

I remember the heady days of Dwayne De Rosario (one of my all-time MLS faves), Julian De Guzman, an ancient Paul Stalteri, the once and future Atiba Hutchinson, and a half dozen dudes playing in the German third division.Atiba’s gotta be on the WC roster right?
Atiba will definitely be taken if not to play then for a leadership role. Dude has given it all for Canada and deserves this at the very least

A lot to do with some Newcastle fan from Consett.
He's a great guy to talk to. Can honestly say in the handful of chats I've had with him, he comes across as super genuine about his approach and beliefs in how players should be treated.

Canada have qualified for the World Cup.
They are also 1 point away from winning the group.
I genuinely can't believe it. It's mindblowing to think where this team has come from in terms of development.

Mike Dean fucking love this as the fourth official

I'm not sure who's more annoying: Gordon or Richarlison

Old Me would've been bricking it at this time under Bruce. But honestly, we look fairly comfortable and like we're following a plan. I know it's been months since Bruce and his bacon left but it's still an odd feeling

Having a talented Canadian play for us would be heaven (sorry David Edgar).
I know @toontownman would be all over this.
