Must have been offered a kings ransom in wages. If true, this unsettling of players bodes well going forward.

Worth a crack at centre half and take our chances with Ritchie/Krafth at full-back to shift Lascelles. Though that's the club, just when we sort the full-back postions there's consideration to put one centre-half to plug that hole. There's just no putting a team out that doesn't contain dreck. Like shifting a picture around the wall trying to cover up all the stains left us as if in a Brucey flat which metaphorically we kinda are.

I think it looks a shambles to some because were actually trying to do things for once and were out of practice with that experience. Failed to get Waddle and Shearer under Keegan in 92, nearly everybody was linked, but it was far from a shambles it was far more preferrable than scraping the cash together for Scott Sloan and Neil SImpson which was comparatively as smooth as trying to get Choudary on loan and nowt else.

The time its taken to get this far with Carlos makes the rest of the window look look like not enough time already.
-
Absolutely. Its proving very difficult to get our targets in before we p1ss away precious games with not good enough knackers but replacing said knackers with something better surely isn't. Sh1t or get off the pot ffs. Think with Carlos its already got to the point where even if we got him he'll prove not worth this hassle. Kitson esque.

I'll be giving this one a miss, its not fun to make love to one's own widow -
Its getting to the point where were going to have to sh1t or get off the pot.

I think being blinded by one moment instead of all the other ones is a bit more, if not moronic, simplistic and could be argued to be going with the exception not the rule in his overall performance today and generally. Hardly likely to see the downside of his game if that's all that's being looked at. To squander attacks, runs, positions by going into business for yourself would get your f**king arse kicked by lots of managers. Those of us that have played probably still feel echoes of that pressure to at minor levels, especially if trying to make it. Far from moronic like. Far better players than ASM have been sacrified for the greater good of the overall team regardless of how likely they were as opposed to their team-mates to create something.

Didn't do much, didn't do much wrong / didn't do much, didn't do much wrong. He's the type absolutely reliant on chances and supply so we give him none. Hard to judge but pretty much what was expected other than from some good crosses - its a bolt shot

Went into Watford with little hope for a win. Will go into Leeds with none and see how it goes but can only really see a draw at best. Were not finishing above anybody other than Burnley and Norwich unless some serious business gets done quickly and that's the only hope alas we fetched up with Wood so is it hope at all?

Aye been really impressed considering the drop of after the start against Spurs. Where else gets an atmosphere and crowd like today with 1win this season and just dumped out of the cup by Cambridge. Couldn't ask more from the fans. Other clubs would be empty seats every where and the fans moaning after 20'. Noticed the Watford fans finally pipe up AFTER they scored - guess which set of fans gets rewarded. Sickening.

Jamaal Lascelles (now playing for League One Leicester City)
Wolfcastle replied to Nobody's topic in Football
He's neither got the actual ability nor the football brain to get by. Basically, as many have said, he's just shit that was disguised by the fairy lights of Rafa's organisation. Long thought of him as a Keith Curle. Looks like he should be good, think it fools people, but he's actual naff. -
Used to have the Confederations Cup there this time of year in the 90s. European champions Denmark, world champions Brazil, Venables Australia and the USA, Argentina. Batistuta, Ronaldo, Laudrup, Romario, Viduka, Ronaldinho Now they get us. I must have missed the outcry back then.
-
Been wondering the same too. Happened to someone right behind us at the Stevenage game.
-
Definitely. Its a really hard position to play if you're not a striker, back to goal just felt completely wrong to me. Even Rob Lee, who ploughed on during an injury crisis, up front looked like a fish out of water. Besides its clearly not working otherwise.
-
Almost like an alibi to run things the way he always intended or something isn't it. Wouldn't take a Leicester reserve on loan unless they paid most of his wages, but would definitely not do due dilligience on the biggest purchases he'd ever make.
-
This Azmoun only has to be an upgarde - never seen him play but he is an upgrade on someone out of position or at best a seldom fit, past his sell by date forward that was borderline at this level on his best day.

All the machinations are so dull that adding more fuel to that fire just gives me a headache now as at best it seems like it'll take ages to get done. Like waiting for VAR to give a decision. Between the link/incident I just want to f**k off for a slash and hope its all sorted when i come back.

Think Cantwells and Woods keep us in the orbit of relegation regardless of who the manager is. They're an improvement on what we have but could make a case for their needing to be replaced themselves if were thinking about next level - midtable. Think were going to need a lot better than that to stay up and prefer to think of Wood as an unforeseen move due to Wilson's injury. Alls were going off really on the richest club/richest owners distinction is comments made by a number of people involved in the ownership that maybe pre-dated the sponsorship blocking so nobody really knows where we stand.

The chances of beating Aston Villa in February have actually diminished lately, fair to say I wasn't banking on that
-
Derby Cunty Will have to call it OvenPride Park if Ashley and Bruce both fetch up there. Remember qualifiying for the champions league at their ground whilst relegating them, shame they don't, or the relegations and relegation battles that suddenly emerged six years later when Ashley arrived.

Because it goes without saying about all the other players, who everyone knows aren't up to it. Mighty-Mag, think what it was was teams playing differently against Ginola in that second season and later in 95/96 - first few months were a bombardment of crosses for Ferdinand from both flanks. Didn't fire the same service in at Spurs either - even when winning player of the year.

Newcastle United 0 - 1 Cambridge United (08/01/2022)
Wolfcastle replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
We did more today than we did against Oxford h, Newport a and Rochdale a under Bruce (the lucky b*stard) it has to be said, also has to be said Goliath beat David on merit points, play a striker (if we had a striker) we'd have won. Crushed any hope i had against Watford though, because there's not much else we can do without signings, to say nothing of staying up. -
Hear Alan Hansen and "percentages" when I watch ASM. Got to think that's why he's here via St Etienne. Like Le-Tissier - the chance of winning games versus the chance of being a liability needs weighed up. There's nobody we could leave him out for so its a moot point for us but he's more flatter to decieve than performer. Know what you mean but chalk and cheese end product - Ginola was a supply machine and at worst at least capable of being a supply machine. Actually the best example I can think of is Mirandinha. Hope it doesn't have the same end result.
