  1. It is, but it's also getting that draw against Palace after they've just confidently beaten Man United (Italy) and drawn with Liverpool (Germany)
  2. I agree, there's something not right up front and would be happy with those changes. Athough I didn't think he was brilliant, Foden at least actually looked more like Foden with his movement and when he was on the ball and better than previous matches. Up until this match we had a midfield that didn't work, an entire left side that didn't work, looked really vulnerable on the counter, and our cohesion and patterns of play were really poor. I thought all of that improved in this match, not great, but much better. The main problem beyond up front is our intent imo, started going for it at 1 nil down and then going to pens, at some point there needs to be trust that if risks are taken and don't work out, we can cover for it. At the moment it's far far far too cautious and ironically it puts us in much riskier positions.
  3. Honestly I did think that was better. Don't get me wrong, it should obviously be better, but I thought it was still miles better than every match up until this point.
  4. Ohh I thought you were doing the thing about us being spawny/lucky.
  5. We've won one trophy ever. No idea what the reputation is based on.
  6. He did a few times, but obviously he gets the bulk of his score for the pen.
  7. We've never won the Euros and we've won the World Cup once, 60 odd years ago. You're posting like we're '90s Man United/Chicago Bulls.
  8. Pickford: 9 Walker: 6.5 Stones: 6.5 Konsa: 6.5 Trippier: 6.5 Shaw: 7 Rice: 7 Mainoo: 7 Palmer: 7 Bellingham: 7 Saka: 9 Kane: 5 Toney: 7.5 Foden: 6 Eze: 6.5
  9. My lass decided that 20 minutes ago was the perfect time to start cleaning the living room.
  10. He's obviously not quite Robben level, but Saka in that position is ridiculously good like.
  11. Just refer back to our last conversation about the teams we played, my opinion hasn't changed. I think the idea that the big teams or smaller teams who beat the big teams that we played were favourable draws is utter bollocks. Always will. As I added in my previous post, it's also a strawman from you (I know you don't like that but I can't lie) Southgate's been universally criticised this tournament, and no one has said anything about not having a kind draw this time.
  12. This point would have a bit more weight to it if the people saying hadn't been saying it since 2018. and it's not acknowledged because it's always been absolute horse shit and only very recently (solely because of Bellingham and Foden getting older) come into the realms of plausibility. And it's more strawmanning from you I'm afraid, Southgate's been universally criticised this tournament, and noone has tried to claim we haven't had a kind draw this time.
  13. Well, there's definitely more cohesion. Mainoo good, Saka very good, Foden looking a bit more like himself. Kane has been so poor though, strange positioning, winning nothing in the air, and looking strangely weak. We're playing in a way where you'd think Watkins or Toney would be much more suited.
  14. I agree, although I think the vuvuzelas and possibly the jubilani keep it at number 1 for me. Quality-wise this is worse, 2010 Chile and Uruguay had some good matches.

Surely if you accept that Trippier has played well for England and usually does vs a player who hasn't and usually doesn't then it makes sense? For years this was the Harry Maguire argument as well. It's what makes Southgate's continuous picking of Foden so odd imo, because he's another one who's never performed for England.

Based on how they usually play for England? You can't just pick players on form like.

There's a lot to criticise Southgate for this tournament, but I really fail to see how not playing TAA is one of them. He's notorious for being poor defensively at RB/RWB, poor positionally in midfield, and he's had a poor tournament. I wouldn't play him personally.
  18. Not iconic and a shite player for us, but Carr vs Southampton was class
  19. How iconic they are is as important as how good they are I think Albert vs Man United Schar vs PSG Albert vs Man City Trippier vs Man City O'brien vs Sunderland
