  1. Reminder, as if anyone should need reminding, that we'd be doing this after the same club signed our #1 replacement. I'm going to lose my fucking marbles over this.
  2. Seen Liverpool fans willing us to buy Sesko as well. The patting on the head as they're fucking our arse element is properly nauseating
  3. That was during that era when fees went absolutely insane for a few players and then came back down as well wasn't it? Total guesswork but it would be like a £300m signing now.
  4. It would definitely be a much nearer comparison. If only Isak was similarly long out of form and crocked like Torres was at the time when they cashed in.
  5. I'd take his point if Liverpool had sold Coutinho to Man City, Man United, Arsenal, or Chelsea. I'd welcome the real comparison - selling Isak to Barca or PSG - with open arms. This is more like when Arsenal sold Van Persie to Man United.
  6. Just to clarify though, I'm more talking about what can happen, what should happen and what does happen. What I think will happen is another matter. I already think that we'll sell him to Liverpool, partly because I'm feeling very pessimistic at the moment, partly because in situations like this it's very difficult to go against the grain of a lifetime of Newcastle letting us down, and partly because everything about us at the moment points towards it happening. This is going to be a hugely pivotal moment under PIF and the club they decide we're going to be.
  7. Honestly it's not pedantry. Just a quick search for the high profile ones: Suarez, Coutinho, Ronaldo, Rooney, Kane, Neymar, Mahrez, Aubemeyang, Lukaku, Diego Costa, Tevez, Fabregas, Pogba, Van Dijk, Zaha, Payet. All took the nuclear option and failed, with their clubs holding out and doing any combo of: keeping them, getting an increased fee, selling them to another club, letting them leave on a free. Those are just the high profile ones where players have gone nuclear as well. We only need to look back at Guehi last summer for a more run of the mill example where the player hasn't acted like a dick.
  8. 3/10 ragebait. Froggy knows Weghorst was after spending more than every other team in the league, multiple times over and failing every time.
  9. Don't think antagonising the fans would have been the reason for holding out, but holding out is what they did.
  10. Okay, well then player power always wins is a complete myth, it just is. If we let him go there we deserve absolutely everything we get tbh.
  11. The player power wins thing is a complete myth. There are countless examples of players who want a move, throw their toys out of the pram and the club still says no.
  12. Have you not thought about what would happen? Every player, agent and competing club in the world will know that not only will we let our top players leave if they're unsettled/kick up a fuss - regardless of how long is left on their contract - but that the club who want our player can also go as far as signing our #1 replacement for that player and then still sign our player. Proper Reek from Game of Thrones behaviour. Everyone will know we're happy to sell to a rival within the same league and that even when we hold all the cards we're a soft touch. The optics would be bad enough, but the actual precedent it would set would be terrible. Everyone, from existing players and agents, to potential ones, to other clubs, to our own fans will know we're a soft touch and can be treated as such. The supporter's faith in the 'project' would take a massive hit, their faith in PIF at all would take a massive hit, and all of that translates on to the terraces and then onto the field. Christ, it would translate to marketing and our revenue, trying to gain our global appeal as a 'banter club' with no history of success to fall back on. And what about Howe and his future? His opinion is that he should stay. Selling him and moving on is against our manager's wishes. It's absolutely ridiculous to say we should just let him go and move on tbh, the club moving on wouldn't resemble the same one that let him go.
  13. I totally agree that when the circumstances are that people are talking about a new manager but can't answer the "who's a better and realistic option then?" that their insistence we can do better than what we have is undermined. When the claim is that we should be able to find a better/realistic alternative to Aaron Ramsdale though, I don't think that's an outlandish thing to expect that needs a host of examples to make it a valid point.
  14. inspired ffs Best I can say is that they might have used the colour dropper tool, the rest looks more like it was inspired by a garden. These things get more effort put into the blurb's lies than the kits themselves. Incredibly low effort.
  15. The "sell him and move on" attitude with some now really blows my mind. I don't think you realise what will happen if we capitulate like that, it would be a catastrophic move.
  16. I already think we'll sell him to Liverpool so whether I believe him specifically is by the by. The reason I'm posting about ignis mainly because he said this would happen a few weeks ago when the idea of it was fanciful.
  17. Perpetual gobshite, but lone voice in saying Isak would move this summer Graeme Bailey saying it's more or less inevitable that he'll go to Liverpool this summer, and unless it's in the last week of the window, before we get another striker or not.
  18. It's not. It's close enough to edit the conversion and force a joke (like I did when we were after Ekitike ) but it's like 69,442.
