Just had a deek at the Brentford forum and their Wissa thread is very similar to our Isak one.

Plenty there they could potentially offload I think. Anyway, if not them I could see plenty being in for him.

He's been heavily linked with them for a long while.

No signings is a miss by default and that's what we're heading towards without even the potential reward of the non-dead cert risk signings they won't try. And I cannot for the life of me work out why we haven't reduced the amount of target low-risk signings we have in order to ensure we get at least some players in. Our strategy has this 'aim for the moon and you might get the stars' feel to it that absolutely doesn't apply to the circumstances. I admire the optimism and I was with you throughout the Guehi saga, really excited and optimistic about this window, but that window and this window have been undeniably atrocious in just about every way to the extent that I actually feel embarrassed for the people working on these deals at the moment. The steadfast reluctance from some to not only not criticise the club for anything, but mock those who now do is baffling at this point.

You think we'd expect us to be top 6 and calling for Howe's head with no Isak, Osula leading the line and a CL campaign? There'll be the odd knacker that there always is, but I think thats absolute nonsense generally like. We were 12th with Isak at one point last season and those posters stuck out like a sore thumb.

If the reports are true, we're at the point where we probably shouldn't even sign a striker until we get a proper recruitment team in imo. Not even hyperbole, I'm deadly serious. The players we're reportedly after and are maybe realistic aren't ticking enough boxes to make them worthwhile. We're talking either too old, too expensive, not good enough, unproven or a combination. It really is an unprecedented situation we're in, particularly if we sell Isak, and means that there's a good chance we spend too much for no return on investment on the pitch. We're staring down the barrell of going into a gun fight unarmed and we're looking through the knife catalogue wondering which one to buy.

Honestly for me it's mainly group therapy. If I sit and think on this stuff for too long without getting it out it kills my soul.

"Was, is and remains" and phrases like it are another one that's weirdly overused this window.

Ramsdale gets bad press because plenty of people have watched him and don't rate him.
-
I highly doubt Howe is the one dictating the size of the offers we put in. For that reason alone I don't have any blame for Howe really.
-
More or less confident than Guehi? Sorry.

Our alterntive to Wissa shortlist includes Wissa?

I'm a better keeper than Ramsdale.

Don't have an issue with the targets on their own, it's the insistence on trying to go under valuation with other clubs potentially interested and willing to pay what the selling club wants, moving at a snail's pace, failing to react or prepare for obvious market changes , and then doing it yet a-fucking-gain that's beyond a joke. Of our reported targets plenty of them aren't PL players - Ekitike, Scalvini, Sesko and others, but when you're getting down the list and reach Jackson rather than taking a punt on a PL unknown vs a known player who's not worth it, it's clear that something has gone seriously wrong.
-
It really is incredible that within the space of a week we went from wow we're signing Ekitike to partner Isak, to Ekitike going to Liverpool, Isak refusing to train so he can go to Liverpool, and being told to pony up £50m for Yoane Wissa or fuck off

Is there precedent for this? Trying to think of other times clubs have had brilliant seasons followed by a spectacularly bad transfer window despite having plenty of funds available. I can think of plenty where teams have been ransacked and profited on players after doing well, but nothing like this.

I'm at the laughing about it stage. Haven't had this for a long while.

PL proven experience over 'risk' even when the only thing they've proven to be is shite

Just gonna keep batting sorry. The context is that he's our ~5th choice option and Brentford don't need to (and probably can't) sell now that they've been gutted. I don't by any means automatically believe Ben Jacobs but I've never believed that this will happen anyway for the reasons mentioned.
