  1. Neville is absolutely insufferable like
  2. Wilder's a proper tell-it-like-it-is try hard. Wish he'd stay flushed.
  3. Quality/importance of the players, the length of time out, and the relentlessness of it is fairly unique to us I think. Bruno, Schär, Gordon, Trippier and Almiron are basically the only players who haven't been out either for a considerable amount of time or off and on this season.
  4. If that Pope and Burn interview is right, that one being near post means it's Burn's fault, not Pope's.
  5. 'Look at the schedule' We're the team with the most favourable run-in in the league.
  6. I was going to mention our first relegation season yesterday. That defence of Beye, Coloccini, Bassong, Enrique has 3 of the better/best players in their position we've seen in the PL era. They looked shocking that season because their protection was the likes of Smith, Butt, Geremi, Nolan, Barton, who left them exposed time and time again.
  7. What do you think is the most difficult position to play?
  8. Aye both of the players linked were noticeably very good.

my calculations put it as 4,000% worse
  10. Anyone else periodically go back to watching this and peak hard? My memory might be getting the better of me but the Man Utd 5-0 and Barcelona 3-2 were instant classics. Why do I feel like this isn't the same when it should be? I feel like we should still be talking about it. It's mad to think that this happened during this season, which has otherwise been incredibly challenging. It gives a hint though, we did this without Botman, Willock, Joelinton, Wilson, and Barnes Schär's goal is an all time moment for me, including the commentary. Up there with "on a day when Newcastle would have taken 1 nil, here they are looking for number 5...", truly a moment when Fletcher's hype commentary suited the situation. It wasn't flukey or a hold on situation either (Barca was tbh) we were fucking incredible. Best 90 minutes I've ever had in SJP.
  11. Imagine if the sliding doors moment was actually if we'd got Solako instead of Ginola
  12. Aye, it's funny really. Only a few months after signing Asprilla Don't think much would have changed anything in 96/97, the signings that were always rumoured and needed (Colin Hendry and Tim Flowers) needed to be the season before that anyway. Peacock was great in 95/96, but Flowers was good enough and Pav/Shaka bad enough that he could have been the difference though. Sliding doors and all that.
  13. I was 11 tbf Hadn't really thought about it tbh
  14. Watching some 95/96 stuff and something's just dawned on me that I haven't once questioned in the nearly 30 years since it happened. Shearer wasn't the signing that team needed.
  15. Partially aye, but I put it more on Dubravka. There's a video somewhere of Burn and Pope talking about how Burn covers the near post for shots on that side and anything that goes the other way is covered by Pope. It was the first thing that came to mind when that went in.
  16. Blaming Burn for the 2nd when the ball went through Dubravka is some going like
  17. They don't, it's how teams played a few years ago but not now, not even Liverpool - Robertson's often on the bench and Trent plays in midfield. And when they did, they had 3 streetwise midfielders to cover them, at the moment we don't. Man City play Ake at LB and set up similar lopsided way to us too. There's no top team in the league that you see play like that now. As for the rest, a clown show? Really? This is why people go on about the criticism and scapegoating being over the top. You should be embarrassed.
  18. As I said earlier, if you play Tino and it means Trippier's the player that stays back in the 3 (as has been the case every time Tino's come on) then of course you can justify it - Trippier's the top assister in the league, you want him getting forward. You can argue that you just get Tino to stay back instead, but all we know is that we haven't seen us set up like that yet.
  19. I have no issue at all with bringing Livramento in, on the face of it I'd do the same, but I do think the fixation on Burn being the root cause of our issues is daft, the criticism of him is way over the top and in some cases offensive, and the notion that Tino coming in will solve our problems (or not create new ones) is also a bit naive.
  20. Do you think the 3 goals per game is all down to Burn like? As well as our 'keeper, It's our midfield system that's not working (through no real fault of our own) and that has an impact on the defence. They're struggling as it is trying to defend and they're already easy to play though - Burn being so exposed is largely because we don't have Joelinton or Willock there to help him. My point is that it's not as simple as just hoying Livramento in, there'll be changes that you need to make if you do.
  21. Nah definitely not. Right decision
  22. Watching Haaland in this with him as triple captain has been shite
