  1. Peacock was my first favourite Newcastle player as well.
  2. I've never loved the game more than when watching Messi though, as ridiculously cliche as that is. Watching him particularly in 14/15 was something else.
  3. It's a toss up between who I'll from this day forward refer to as the Beauty and the Beast Ginola and Beardsley
  4. Can you imagine how unbearable Neville will be if/when he's prattling on about Ashworth man.
  5. Edwards is a pipe dream like, every club out there will be ready to pounce if/when he decides to be a sporting director again.
  6. Tbh we're all still unsure of his actual worth. He himself says he's the middle of the wheel with all the spokes going to different departments and he merely links departments together. Nickson's our scout, Howe's our manager/coach, Ashworth sounds more like a facilitator than a director, then together they agree on who to sign.
  7. The main thing in this for me, as it quite often is, is that I hate Man United and everything about them and their arrogant wanker fans.
  8. No one else find it a bit weird for someone in his position to be job hopping like this? I appreciate football's a bit different but generally someone switching jobs like this doesn't look good.
  9. Or that his methods have been a failure, or that he'd ever signed a player for us from Bournemouth. On Loaded last night one of them said he was 'obsessed with Bournemouth players' - again a weird description for someone who's yet to sign a player from Bournemouth.
  10. Said it before, but it's a bit like starting a relationship with someone who cheated on who they were with to be with you, you can't be surprised when they then go and do the same to you. If he goes that'll be the 3rd club he's been at in the space of 5 years, and the 3rd start 6 years. Find it all a bit odd from someone playing such a key role to be that flitty.
  11. Was just about to say how offensively boring this has been. Don't like Palace but Chelsea deserve this.
  12. I'd have Batty over Cabaye tbh. One was stupidly underrated and the other stupidly overrated
  13. It's between Bruno and Lee basically. Lee has longevity and a brilliant 1994 over Bruno at the moment, but in terms of who's the better footballer it's already Bruno I think. Speed's not in the conversation for me and Cabaye is definitely not.
  14. We have, but Beye, Debuchy had very good periods, the utility lads: Hughes, Watson and Venison (when they played there) were all decent, Barton and Janmaat had their brief moments, but yeah, there's no competition like. Trippier was the best right back I'd seen within about 15 games.
  15. He's fantastic mate, by some distance the best right back I've ever seen at Newcastle in my 30 odd years supporting the club and my lass's dad who's been supporting the club since the early '60s agrees.
  16. Surprised that he didn't have as many last season.
  17. All about context though innit. Villa are in poor form, imo aren't as good as their position suggests, and could potentially have been finally found out a bit. There's the possibility that they come within touching distance providing we hit some form. Whereas Man United are shite, but fairly consistent with their results and have been consistently jammy for a really long time now. We've never finished above Man United in premier league history.
  18. It's been a really frustrating, injury ravaged season, but I can't see it as anything other than a success to be probably looking like we'll finish on 60ish points in those circumstances. It really makes you wonder what might have been without the injuries, because without those we were absolutely smashing teams, especially at home.
  19. I'm talking about the equivalent point in time last season rather than opponent by opponent. On that basis I think we're further behind.
  20. Last season's matches are misleading because game 7 and 25 were postponed, so we're actually now going into a run where we need to win the next 5 just to stay 5 points behind last season's points total. If we win 6 on the bounce we'll go 2 points behind.
  21. Right now we're only 5 points off where we were last season when we had a couple of losses and loads of draws. Unfortunately this season it's been losses but with a couple of wins in there to make up the numbers. We're now going into a run of 10 games where our record last season was excellect - won 8 lost 2 - so I expect we'll fall further behind during this period.
  22. Because some people seem to be reading from a pick your own adventure book. Some psycho was bleating on about how a Dan Burn inspired loss yesterday would have cost Howe his job Our current form: P: 6 W: 4 D: 1 L: 1 and the loss was to Man City. Certain sections of our support never cease to amaze me.
  23. Anyone has a bad word to say about him better be prepared for a fight. Not with me like, but I'll find someone
