Just remembered when my mam was seeing this bloke actually and my mam mentioned to him while I was there that my lass was vegan and he went "you should give her a slap", which obviously didn't go down well. So he asked why, I said because she loves animals, he said he loves animals, I just went "love them enough to not eat them?" and he just went quiet. Anyway, long story short, it turns out that he was none other than Newcastle United footballer Harrison Ashby.

My lass is veggie and was vegan for a while like and I've never seen anything like it from some people over the last 8 years like. For every irritating vegan who insists upon themselves there must be 10 absolute weirdos who can't handle it. Some are genuinely curious like, but others take her own decision as an automatic judgement on their own and get defensive, others try to clamp her with braindead points or get pedantic over vegan food being named after meat, others need reminding what it is after trying to offer her eggs or even fish for the 100th time. Then others seem to make it a point of pride that they're unaffected by it and won't be swayed from coincidentally talking about meat or telling a story that ends with an animal being killed when they're in our company. It's really fucking weird like, I would have thought it was an exaggeration if I hadn't witnessed it all first hand.

Tbf, does anyone in here actually have a clue what they're talking about?
-
Would go along with all of that but upgrade Diame and I don't think Hanley flopped, he was very good in that promotion season.

My sweet boy Joselu, and Almiron, Murphy, Manquillo.

Anah, I think I might actually need a break from football tbh

It's mad how even Rafa's perceived flops have just been a matter of time Fully expecting Matz Sels to trailblaze the next style of goalkeeping now.

Aye, if this forum is in any way representative of their audience, then it seems like more and more people getting a bit sick of them like.

Couldn't give a shit about class, but I think I get exactly who you mean. Tbf, I get the impression he is too. Haven't listened to TTFS for a while but the last time I did he sounded like he held all of the guests in contempt and someone on here mentioned him doing it again recently.

Well this is it, we're all drawing these sort of varying arbitrary lines.
-
That criticism of him probably opens us all up to judge-not-lest-ye-be-judged hypocrisy on varying scales re animal welfare, but that it doesn't stop the criticism from being completely valid. Similar to Nmecha thing really, as soon as the homophobia stuff was highlighted the cognitive dissonance alarm went off for me because of the club's owners, in this case it goes off because knowing exactly how horrific the meat industry is hasn't as yet stopped me chowing down on burgers or cheese or eggs or whatever. That's not looking for any fucked up validation or whatever obviously, more just saying we all have these strange contradictions going on.

It's another 'we're all hypocrites' situation for me like.

We couldn't ask for a better club to be in a potential transfer battle with than Spurs. Seems very unlikely that Levy will drive the price up and we won't either. Their £55m asking price is laughable. -
Tyler was brilliant for a very long time. Very low energy in the last few years but still largely less annoying than loads of the others out there.

Honestly Ciaran Clark getting sent off against Norwich feels like an episode of Quantum Leap now, the consequences are unbelievable

Anyone know what TV channel it's on?

Those costs are the equivalent of like £45 in 2023 and we've also have much higher cost of living, so (guessing a bit) like a 20% rise in ticket price along with 150% higher cost of living or something from 1997

Not sure about Northumbria, but Newcastle stopped getting them about 6 years ago IIRC.
-
I get what you're saying, I just think the solution there is that you could have afforded to go to more matches rather than she shouldn't because you couldn't, if that makes sense.
-
Couldn't you just as easily argue that it's been a disgrace for a long time? I was one of those kids that got to go to cup games under Keegan, but they were like £10 or £20

A student working part-time on minimum wage doesn't strike me as coming from an entitled place like, but admittedly I don't know much about her. We all bemoan modern football and how expensive it is so It would be class if we were collectively like 'yeah you're right that's too expensive for everyone, charge us all less' instead of turning on each other (I mean it's Twitter, so hardly surprising like) If it carries on this way, the demographic of people that are able to go to matches will change. It's exactly why Man City's CL attendances were shit and lacking atmosphere for a long time.
-
Yeah really. It's pricing people out from the bottom up and it's a problem football-wide. Just because she's up a couple of notches on the food chain doesn't make it wrong or entitled like. There's always going to be someone worse off than you.
-
I don't really get the problem with what she's said, it might be expected but it is expensive like.
