Do you think it would be fair to say that he maybe doesn't get the love from our fanbase that he deserves/has earned? He's very uncontroversial and calm, which maybe doesn't tickle the pashun ganglion in our fanbase like KK or SBR did, and he doesn't yet have the prestige that Rafa had, but I honestly love having him as our manager like - he's every bit a Newcastle manager in terms of how he has us playing imo.

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Keith Andrews appointed at Brentford
Kid Icarus replied to cp40's topic in Football
Just cut to the chase and ask Brighton who they'd replace de Zerbi with. -
Reading that back, it's mad just how much of an inferiority complex there was - largely due to Ashley (and Pardew) hammering it into us over the course of a decade.

Thank fuck for that

Wouldn't mind having a read back at that if you know where it is. IIRC (I hope) I never fell for it either like.

"What Rafa wants, Rafa gets" lasted like 3 months IIRC

Not sure Saturday's the right match for Targett mind, considering the only time I ever saw him have a poor performance last season was Man City away

It might be a bit of a logistical nightmare to implement quickly, but a seat swap system (similar to what the council does with houses) would be class if done correctly imo. Imo the biggest factor holding back the noise is people not feeling confident enough to sing (something that's a lot easier to get over when you're with your mates) paired with people largely being in and amongst absolute miseries who seem to think standing, shouting and singing at a football match is weird.

This is exactly it, the bottom line is that football fans largely only care about what happens on the pitch, the other stuff that gets brought up is only ever a byproduct of that. With the likes of Glazer and Ashley, their own greed gets in the way of potentially bigger profits. Case in point, the perception among Newcastle fans of Mike Ashley vs PIF

There's probably an argument to be made that they still could have made an obscene profit by taking money out of the club while also making the club massively successful. If the money that has been spent had been spent wisely, with the right people in the right places, and they even modestly invested in infrastructure, they still could have made like 1.48 billion instead of 1.5.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Kid Icarus replied to Rich's topic in Football
An xG average of 1.6 is good. 5th best in the league I think, higher than both Man United and Spurs. Everything there backs up what I think I've seen from us and why I'm not overly concerned. Yes, the whole Trippier Miggy thing might seem stale and predictable to us (you could maybe make the same argument for Man City a couple of years ago with their overloads too) but it's no less effective, we're just not finishing chances. -
There are a couple of fanbases who could seriously do with some forced humility. One is Everton by being relegated and coming back (like us and Villa had to) and the other is Man United. Unfortunately with the latter I don't think it'll ever happen, the collective arrogance of their stereotypical fan hasn't changed one iota during these supposedly dark post-Fergie years.

Ameritoon's got a bit of Mike Patton about him. That's a compliment just in case it's not obvious.

Flag snitches, tellin' all their business, sit in the court and be their own star witness. "Do you see the perpetrator?" "Yeah I'm right here!" Fuck around get L7 ruled out for years.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

I think it's pretty clear to me that we're a team that gets set pieces as a byproduct of the attacking way that we try to win, rather than a team that deliberately relies on getting set pieces as a way to win. -

xG from open play makes no sense to me. Aside from pens, I don't understand why chances from set pieces should be discounted, surely they're just as relevant. -
Definitely don't go to Marshall's, it's shite.

Longsands. Colman's in South Shields is officially the best imo, but it's a bit out the way and Longsands is close enough and in a nicer area.

As predictable as it might be for us watching it, our xG hasn't changed, we're now just hugely underperforming it. I honestly don't think it goes too much further than that. I don't think you can discount the huge drop off that Wilson has had, Almiron's purple patch being over, and the long list of sitters missed by Wilson, Longstaff, Joelinton, Burn, Schär etc. -
God forbid anyone should enjoy anything in their lives at the moment. It doesn't even apply. As Bruno put it, he's proud but he's not happy, I think that sums it up. It's being said as if it's some kind of controversial 300-esque rallying cry, but it just comes across as emotional immaturity from a pure misery who can't think beyond good or bad.

Canny funny that we're apparently both king shithousers and have a manager who's too nice.
