Have I missed something about Verbruggen being expensive? I know Brighton tend to get a lot for their star players, but I've seen nothing about him to suggest he's at that level.

Yeah, and there's also an argument to be made that the 'failure' of the summer is a collective jumping of the gun when you look at the time it's taken for some of our signings to reach the levels they did.

In the 21st Century Kane is undoubtedly ahead of Shearer like. Overall, not for me as a striker.

Palace fans aren't booing Glasner because of where they are like, it's because of the way he's gone on this season and been perceived to be trying to get sacked while phoning it in. And we'd be exactly the same like, no question whatsoever.

Quick stab at it 1. C. Ronaldo 2. Suarez 3. Lewandowski 4. Benzema 5. Kane 6. Ronaldo 7. Ibrahimovic 8. Aguero 9. Haaland 10. Villa

Klose on the list but no Rooney, Eto'o, Aguero, Van Nistlerooy, Schevchenko ...surely Ronaldo qualifies as a CF too? Suarez is easily number 1 or 2 on that list imo. He's going to very quickly become one of the most underrated players going because he's a cunt and played in the Messi era alongside him so was overshadowed. Ronaldo is the best CF that was still playing in the 21st Century, but his best was late '90s not in the 21st century.

I think I said it in the summer, but that summer transfer window was pure 'The Empire Strikes Back' imo - nigh on every first or second choice we went for had one of the big 6 step in to sign them, and in some cases I think stopping us getting them was more of a motivating factor for them than them wanting them.

Rafa was pure triumph over self-imposed adversity. I appreciated and eventually enjoyed watching us defend under him, but beyond that the on-the-ball stuff was largely dire. That's not something I at all lay at his door though and it was enjoyable when we got results with it.

I reckon I enjoyed more games in 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 under Howe than I have this season (or any other seasons this side of 1995-96) as well.

Funniest thing about that darts set up for me is that it could all be perfectly aligned, wires hidden, carpet clean, right font etc etc and it would still be the saddest fucking thing I've seen in my life.

But it's Greggs! Get it? Come on, it's funny! Greggs! Hahahaha!

Watching that Hayden interview and it's yet another player whose first word to describe him is 'intense' Still not totally sure what they mean by it either because it could mean quite a few different things.

Just been talking to my manager (Evertonian) about the match and he was saying we looked knackered like. Tbh, I didn't see that in our performance myself, but maybe that's because I only really watch Newcastle so have lost that sense of scale.

If Brentford or Fulham had ambition and capital to maximise they could get to our level very quickly. The glass ceiling is directly above our's and Villa's heads, not the likes of Brentford or Fulham.

Bournemouth 2-1 Brentford Everton 2-1 Burnley Leeds 1-1 Sunderland Wolves 1-3 Liverpool Villa 1-2 Chelsea Brighton 1-1 Arsenal Fulham 2-1 West Ham Man City 3-0 Forest Newcastle 1-2 Man United Spurs 1-1 Palace

It's the natural response to a situation where playing the offside trap will be nigh on impossible and so you'll want to deny your opponent any space in behind.

The inverted pyramid could have been more succinct with this, but I agree with everything he's said here https://jonawils.substack.com/p/why-the-wenger-law-is-a-nonsense

The humble pie that gets eaten when teams play with the lowest bloc you've ever seen in your life and VAR is still used at a microscopic level will be gigantic like.

Just looked it up and apparently he was just an interpreter for Lombardo. Brolin as caretaker manager just sounds mental, it's not that far away from having Balotelli as caretaker.

Only other two I could guess at for Scotland would be
