  1. Kid Icarus

    Joelinton

Was looking for a little things in football thread to say exactly that. Sibierski, Perch, Best, Diame, Joelinton, and I'm sure a fair few others. There's nothing I like more than a player making their own fans eat shit.
  2. It's crunch time in terms of how real this all is like. If they start with Trippier then I'll take this all seriously like, it would be an incredible signing for a club in our position.
  3. How bad? We had 4 years of Alan Pardew inexplicably only ever swapping one left back for another regardless of the situation.
  4. God I fucking hated Cantona, but he was so fucking good like. Couldn't help but love what he did there. Can you imagine how much you'd love a player like him playing for your team? I remember Vinnie Jones almost decapitating Rob Lee in '94ish, getting a red, and John Motson saying it was "incredibly harsh"
  5. Best way I could put it is that both things are true and that it's a very weird thing to try and wrap your head around.
  6. Goalkeepers were truly the drummers of football like. Proper endearing weirdos that are looked down on. Campos, Globbelar, Higgueta, John Burridge sleeping with his ball.
  7. Might have it totally wrong like, but are there more flags than the ones that go out on match day? Just imagining how unreal it would be to have flags in every stand, just a sea of black and white flags everywhere.
  8. Campos was almost this mythical creature amongst my mates in the '90s. Back when we didn't have YouTube to check, I remember hearing something along the lines of 'nar man he's like 5ft 4 but he's that good that he's still the best goalkeeper in the world'
  9. I'll be honest, a big part of me wanting them to be relegated was that fucking cowbell Even just hearing it on MOTD weekly was enough. It sounded like he was right next to the commentator.
  10. Wouldn't surprise me if the bigger manufacturers were looking at doing something similar. Look at those Puma 3rd kit abominations to see where they're all going with it.
  11. The design of this alone convinced me to try being a keeper for a bit when I was a kid.
  12. 'keeper tops were so much better when the designers were given free reign to do what they wanted. They're all plain and boring now.
  13. Kid Icarus

    Joelinton

The languid style and his role honestly does remind me of Socrates, which is why I thought that comparison was so good. Obviously tongue in cheek in terms of their quality, which shouldn't need saying, but there are obviously some people who need it spelled out that yes, obviously Joelinton is the better player.
  14. Are there enough flags now that that it could be done in more stands?
  15. "He is human!" We've been watching Messi and Ronaldo for the last 15 years, have watched the likes of Xavi and Iniesta misplace about one pass a decade and commentators have taken to saying this about footballers playing at the levels we're used to. Mo Salah and Kevin de Bruyne misplacing passes and missing the target isn't that surprising.
  16. I agree with this but some songs are weird. I've never been able to be sure, but I think the Jonas Spiderman song was in 7/8 time
  17. No one should ever forget that we're just a plaything for the 80% part of the ownership and be all 'our owners ' at all imo, but failing that, at least until we end up being successful imo, if that happens. Not trying to be down on it, just heard enough about their other projects to be massively cautious with where this whole thing will go, even without factoring in the human rights issues.
  18. Don't mind anything that's going to make the atmosphere better, clappers aren't really that different to spinning ratchets from years ago, but the your shit ahh thing is embarrassing like, about as Championship as it gets.
  19. Just find Liverpool far more exciting, off the cuff and unpredictable when they're at their best. High risk, high reward sort of thing. They've obviously far, far surpassed it now, but a few years ago when they weren't the finished package and were having to go all out attack to cover for their defensive frailties, they were as close to being a modern day Keegan's Newcastle that I've seen. IIRC Shearer said the same at the time on MOTD. Man City have a lot of in game set plays (if that makes) that you see time and time again that are incredibly effective but I'm bored of seeing and don't find exciting.
  20. I much prefer watching Liverpool, but Man City have a massive strength-in-depth advantage once over Chelsea, twice over Liverpool, and 3 or 4 times over everyone else. Look at the ridiculously small eye of the needle Liverpool threaded 2 seasons running and still only won the league once.
  21. Can anyone think of an example of a team completely revolutionising their lineup in a January (or any) transfer window and it working straight away?
  22. Isn't it literally only us and Arsenal who hadn't had matches postponed until now?
  23. That and that there's something off about them that I can't quite put my finger on. Like they've lost their mojo, not on the same wavelength as each other and generally looking a bit predictable.
  24. Liverpool are being really strange.
