I honestly think the idea of Liverpool being worse than most as a set of fans is a hangover from the '80s and more correlation than causation tbh. Every set of English fans abroad has had bother - the England team, us, Leeds, West Ham, Chelsea, Man United. The only team's fans I can't ever remember getting into bother is Arsenal. Generally, I think you'd get the same bother with other teams regularly in Europe though.

The food chain argument doesn't hold up imo. The fact that we have a developed conscience coinciding with industrialised, alternative ways to get the nutrients we need is what sharply distringuishes as being separate from the rest of the food chain.

Tbf, I don't think anyone should be criticised anyway because it's more or less impossible to live an unhypocritical life - even vegans choosing soya are 'guilty' of funding deforestation.
