It rarely gets mentioned but Given's save vs Defoe in our 1-0 FA Cup win against Spurs around 2005 was absolutely ridiculous in real time. Watching from the Gallowgate there was a sea of players, the ball dropped to Defoe about 10 yards out, he blasts it top left corner, then seemingly out of nowhere, Given appears what seemed fully horizontal above everyone's head height and palmed it away. It was unbelievable.
  2. That post by Ronson has been edited to include a different tweet. The original post had nothing about advertising boards, it was about 'a Saudi company' - might be referring to the same one though tbf
  3. Absolutely no chance I'd be dropping Willock. He was one of our better players yesterday and was probably MOTM at Southampton away.
  4. Once again for everyone at the back, a private Saudi company is completely different from the Saudi state.

You've been trying to argue this point for like 16 years 2 games out of 3 is extremely generous by my remembering of it. 2/3rds of every match maybe

Very difficult to compare Pope's 6 months with Given's decade. What I will say is I never saw Given or any other 'keeper for us have a 6 months this good.

    Jacob Murphy

He's a decent last 5 minute player as things stand
  8. Willock off instead of Longstaff was a headscratcher at time and now, but we can't expect flawlessness.
  9. It's not great, but the examples I've given I think demonstrate that the devil's in the details and it isn't necessarily just on him to answer. His xAG is high I think there's as much onus on the rest of the team (particularly Wilson at the moment) to step up.
  10. Willock has put it on a plate for Longstaff and Almiron in the last 2 matches and they've fluffed their lines like, I think it's not quite as simple as being about what he needs to do.
  11. For me we're missing the late runner into the box who can finish. I think Leicester have a couple we might want.
  12. I'm one of his biggest fans but he's been dawdling on the ball and getting outplayed more often than he was pre-world cup.
  13. Disappointing, but without Pope it would have been awful. Understandable that Howe went like-for-like with the subs, Wilson for Isak was the right call, but Willock has every right to be disappointed about coming off, especially with the hindsight of us losing our threat down that side when he went off and Longstaff offering nothing throughout. Pope: 9 Trippier: 7.5 Schar: 7.5 Botman: 7 Burn: 6.5 Bruno: 7 Joelinton: 7 Longstaff: 5 Willock: 8 Wilson: 4 Almiron: 6.5 ASM: 7 Isak: 7 Murphy: 7
  14. Dominant, but a similar story to the last few weeks, Wilson's not on it, so it's less obvious where the goal's coming from.
  15. Robertson again getting away with being a dirty cunt
  16. The level it went to without defenders being able to do anything about it was insane as well. That goal against Villa is a borderline Laurel and Hardy comedy sketch or something
  17. One of my favourite ever Beardsley goals. Nothing better than when he used to throw that shimmy.
  18. I'm not a big Gordon fan, in fact I actively don't like him. The amount of posts I've seen saying that he's shite though is daft, that's an obvious stretch. He's definitely got something about him and he showed that last season.
  19. Our resident Everton fan @Neiljoins us live. Neil, can you shed some light on what Newcastle supporters could expect from Anthony Gordon?
  20. Nah he's good. You should see Spurs without him playing
  21. Yeah, at worst -1, if we win by 2 it's 0, by 3 it's +1 etc.
  22. If we win today our last 38 games points total matches the 95/96 season (78) with at worst a -1 goal difference
  23. This is another situation where you want to hear from our resident Bournemouth fans about players they were unsure about that turned out to be class.
