  1. When religious freedoms and basic human rights are at odds, with a few exceptions there's only ever going to be one winner with most people in this day and age - religious or not. The church itself knows this and moves with the times, often pushing away from its own doctrine. We can respect religious beliefs that we disagree with, but any basic bigotry hidden behind the veil of 'traditional values' or 'religious freedom' is probably going to be viewed as such - at least when it's directed towards a demographic that the west has suddenly decided it cares about protecting. The arrogance part is right though, homophobia is rightly completely out of bounds, but our society will happily turn a blind eye or join in with certain types of racism, xenophobia, and other forms of bigotry.
  2. You can't answer a question when it's premise is wrong.
  3. Quick check and in the UK and US alone the population self identify as 54% and 65% Christian. 'most people'
  4. This is their version of the banks being bailed out and them doubling down on reckless spending. I'll be shocked if their CEO doesn't get a big bonus at the end of the year as well.
  5. Presumably because it's 2-3 months later and the interest is still there, or that it's been that long and nothing's further forward.
  6. You know that line "It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than open it and remove all doubt"? Anyway, Graeme Bailey was on that Loaded podcast yesterday.
  7. Eh? Did you reply to the wrong post?
  8. Used to read F365 a fair amount, it was basically The Athletic before The Athletic existed.
  9. It comes with the territory of hanging on the every word of every good or bad rumour when you're desperately looking for a fix. Just suck it up, the endless whinging about journos is more annoying than the journos themselves.
  10. Always thought football 365 were fairly reputable. Hopefully it's bullshit.
  11. Patrick Berger as well, class strike
  12. Good thing that 'my understanding is...' is just work parlance for 'this is all I've been told'
  13. Along with Ritchie he can be considered the main on-field reason that we went up in 16-17. An absolute diamond of a player at that level and a pleasure to watch. No idea if he'll be any good there now with it being well past time that he should have been moved on, but he leaves with his mark well and truly made and I hope he can carry on where he left off His hat trick Vs Norwich at home was honestly of my favourite experiences watching Newcastle.
  14. Harrison's 20/21 stats are unsurprisingly a lot better. In around the top 25 centile for most of the big stats.
  15. If the previous output of those players is anything to go by, he would yeah. 8 goals and 8 assists in 20/21 8 goals and 1 assist in 21/22
  16. Barton immediately springs to mind. Maybe Shelvey should have pandered a bit more to the gullible
  17. Juve 2015 nearly had it if it wasn't for the middle bit. Inter Miami's is really good like, but haven't seen a good one for a real football club yet.
  18. There's still no team that's pulled off pink, not even Juve. I still reckon it can be done
  19. Was Shelvey especially bad under Bruce? I feel like he gets far too much criticism like. He's been really good since Eddie came in. Now he's slimmed down and looks like one of those mad male models.
  20. I'll be so surprised if we actually end up going for Paqueta like. Everything I've seen is pure fan will and nothing from the club at all.
  21. Did we not all pay for their stadium?
  22. Fraser's fine imo. League Two is shockingly bad though, all of them would run riot, without question. Anderson looked better today in terms of consistency than he did when I saw him at BR though. I guess he was taking more risks there though.
  23. I only watched a little bit of him in league two, but I'd be really reluctant to keep him here. Despite being a threat he was patchy in possession, which is fine in League Two when possession turns over constantly, but something that needs to be ironed out at PL level. I think he'd do much better to go to a League One or Championship team that keep possession for 6 months to a year. Saying that, going on pre-season there's a stronger argument for playing him than there is Murphy.
