That's actually ingenius if possible like.

Embodied everything I thought being a football fan was about and what I think it should be about. Couldn't wish for a better person in football to have associated with Newcastle
-
Didn't he do something similar when he was insisting that we should all be happy with being in the Premier League and that we've never been a top 10 club or something? He might be canny (which seems to cover all sins) but he was an absolute knacker when he was here and a very shit 'keeper.
-
I agree. I'm more thinking about those seemingly happy to relocate.
-
I'm going to be blunt, this whole 'giving everyone a chance' bollocks is just PR brainwashed mind feedback. Even a cursory glance at how these things go (higher ticket prices, lower attendances, more corporate seats) should tell you that there's a 0% chance the people you reckon you're helping would benefit at all.
-
...and yet here we all are still supporting Newcastle! I still remember vividly the boom at school of people getting massively into football and Newcastle. Getting a season ticket was nigh on impossible but I didn't know a single person who got into football at that time who lost interest in Newcastle until the Ashley years.

Is that the same thing as saying: If you mean lost from SJP, then fair enough and I've misinterpreted what you were saying. I read it as you meaning we nearly lost them altogether
-
I was around then as a kid. The idea that we almost almost lost a generation of kids under Keegan is probably the most revisionist thing I've ever read on here like.

I think a lot of CL teams are either past their peak, coming close to transitioning, or are transitioning. Barca being relatively shit and the Messi-Ronaldo come down being well and truly underway are probably factors as well.

When new clothing brands come out they tend to be quality like, that's part of how they gain a reputation, often at a loss. If Castore end up becoming a well known brand I'd expect the quality to drop or the prices to go up, or both.

Ding ding ding ding

Especially as most of our fanbase also refused to protest. Ironically, by simply walking away they're protesting in a more effective way anyway.

Recommend reading ponsaelus's posts in this thread from just after the takeover. A lot of the questions and proposals being put forward now are answered there. https://newcastle-online.org/topic/4883-st-james-park/page/533/?tab=comments#comment-6910681

This is what I mean by the misplaced sense of progress. You really need to be careful what you wish for. You might just find that the things you're willing to sacrifice were actually an essential part of your identity as a Newcastle supporter and the club's identity all along. And by the time you realise something's missing, it'll be too late. Preserving the club's history and uniqueness is as essential to me as a grade 1 listed building is. It really blows my mind that so many are willing to disregard it to potentially become yet another cookie cutter club with a cookie cutter stadium, especially considering the other fanbases who've done the same and now hate it (Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs)
-
Sitting on the fence here, but I think both the suggestions of moving from SJP and the ones about getting rid of Leazes Terrace (thankfully something that won't happen) are grim. Is literally nothing sacred anymore then? We're supposed to be the ones upholding the club's history yet it seems there are plenty who are desperate to stamp all over it in the name of some misplaced sense of what progress is.

Absolutely bullshit red card, Webster's right there. Hate the whole check-the-monitor=change-the-decision trend as well.

Very poor from Bissouma

Eeeeeeeeh what's happened?

Emil Krafth to leave club at end of the season (Official)
Kid Icarus replied to Nobody's topic in Football
Did people watch a different match to me or something? He was absolutely fine -
Howe seems very much a square peg in square holes manager, so I think it's much more likely we'll see Krafth at RB than there being a change in system to get Murphy in at RWB for example.

Canny mental back 4 that.

Happy birthday to the ultimate main man. Someone who much like Newcastle itself, is loved and romantised inclusive of their faults, not in spite of them. Understanding that regardless of any flaws, he saved the club and took it to within a whisker of winning the league with the most exhilarating football we've ever seen here >>>>> fixating on looking a gift horse in the mouth for some weird, "healthy", reason.
