  1. On the bit in bold, I agree with you yeah. On the same basis, we're getting stick because it's us who are owned by KSA and it would be Villa or Everton or whoever getting the stick if it was them, with us all joining in. For the other bit, we would think he's a dickhead because there's no link to be drawn between what's happened and Delia Smith, whereas there is that link to be drawn to MBS and KSA.
  2. I definitely agree that there are differences like, but it's still possible depending on where you work and who kicked up a fuss about it and the likleyhood of it becoming a bigger PR problem. It's happened at my work with students rather than staff.
  3. It's not people who are unhappy about it though, it's a group of Newcastle fans who are unhappy about it because they now have a reason where either there wasn't one before, or where they held the opposing view when the same criticism was thrown at Man City or PSG, and will go out and defend their club's owners and have people fired because they're connected with something they love. We, like Man City, now have a group of people who'll defend them to the hilt because all criticism over their ownership of the club is viewed as being levelled harshy at themselves, the fanbase, and the club rather than squarely at the owners. Never in a million years would the reaction on here a few years ago have been 'pfff, that's a bit insensitive of him, good on those Man City fans for getting him sacked', nor would it have even been 'well he brought it on himself' if it had been about them. It would have overwhelmingly been 'fucking hell, look at these cunts defending some of the worst people on the planet' or being more charitable 'they've lost their minds'
  4. If you overstepped the mark and someone had the motivation to do so, you could just as easily be fired over something you posted on here like, it's a public forum. Agree to disagree, I don't think he's really said anything all that controversial tbh. I'ce read worse on Reddit which is full of nerds. If I was that sensitive over the subject matter I'd be much more up in arms about why there's a link being made between the subject and our owners than the people making the link.
  5. I'd say it's the naive, low-hanging fruit of the same culture. The urge to be a grass and to go through with being a grass is still there.
  6. I'm sure that if I search for "Adam AND Johnson" on here there'll be absolutely no insinuation or banter about how what he did has any connection with or is any reflection on the Mackems from you and others. Or Man City's owners and Man City fans. Don't take it personally, I think we're all full of shit. I'm just wondering if/when more will come to the same realisation or not.
  7. Forgive me for not believing for a single second that you uphold that belief across the board like.
  8. Of course his employers agreed, it's bad PR for them, which is why the people who grass do it and why it's a much wider problem than him and whatever sympathy you might think I have for him specifically. The cancellation part is him being fired, not being on Twitter. And he is the victim in this, who else is? NUFC fans? MBS and KSA? Whoever grassed on him obviously thinks so.
  9. It's not okay because it's about someone who's connected with something you love, basically.
  10. Some people are living in a dream world man. This is our reality now, of course a comparison is going to be drawn with us, that's how it is now, you don't get to separate our owners and the club when it suits you. Fucking whinging about it, getting people sacked for bringing it up, and defending people who are indefensible is literally sportswashing in action. All this 'well he shouldn't have said it' 'it's not a breach of freedom of speech because Twitter's a private platform' (ie the exact fucking problem) and this, that and the other, is hoying any excuse in front of it to ignore the fact that it's just yet more cancel culture being excused, brushed aside, or lauded because your enemy's the one being cancelled - tbf I'd be very confident he's been exactly the same too, it's beyond the pale now.
  11. Would love to know how you thread the needle of abhorring rape and what Mason Greenwood's done, while also defending the club's owners to the extent that you'll get someone fired or laud him being fired for drawing a line between the two. ... and some think that sportswashing isn't really a thing. You read his post, see Newcastle United and think 'that's me, that's my club, its history, its players, Amanda and Mahrdad' and think what he's saying is disgusting based on that, not even stopping to think for a second that he obviously means the 80% owner and that ultimately what he's saying, beyond being tasteless, isn't particularly controversial.
  12. I'm no fan of Shelvey but I don't think he's been quite as bad as the posts on here would have you believe. I don't think it's the end of the world if he plays, particularly if it's alongside Guimarães.
  13. All depends on if we stay up and how much of an overhaul there is if we do. To summarise; Schar.
  14. Just listening to the Totally Football Show James Richardson: so Bruno Guimarães has joined Newcastle from Lyon...why is everyone getting so very excited about this signing? Tom Williams: Because he's brilliant. He's an absolutely brilliant footballer. He's a very well-rounded central midfield organiser. He's got great feet, he's a brilliant passer of the ball, he's got a great engine, he does pretty much everything you could ask of a deep lying central midfielder. Imagine if he ends up somehow being shit. Well worth listening to to find out more about him and his character. Literally everything about him on and off the pitch is so impressive.
  15. Never thought I'd see Shaun posted on here.
  16. That's Twitter for you. Not going to act like there isn't any overlap with the growing mentality on here and the fanbase as a whole though. I think it's definitely a minority at the moment, but it seems like 3 months after 14 years was all it took for some to take the club's new position for granted and start going on like spoiled bairns.

    Dele Alli

Insists on players training at the same intensity they'd have in matches as well. Never saw this one happening tbh. It's a shame because even him playing poorly is arguably an improvement for us and him getting anywhere near back to his best would have seen us safe.
  18. He's so canny in that interview like. At times it was like a bad job interview with the shaking voice, not answering all of the questions, not being specific with his answers. I've warmed to him straight away.
  19. 7, down from 8. Reason it's gone down: Our signings Reasons it's not lower: I'm just naturally pessimistic Until now it's felt like a relegation season No prolific striker for a while It's a fight probably between only 4 clubs I expect Roy Hodgson to sort Watford out, I think Lampard will get a new manager bounce and get a tune out of Alli I think it'll still be very close and feels like it'll go down to the last game.
  20. Sorry, was in a hurry and thought you'd get my meaning for some reason. Point being that with a better defence, our GF is fine. There are plenty of teams in the low 20s like us with more games played. Obvious to say but results are the problem and they can be improved with a better defence just as much as they can with more goals.
  21. 10 for effort 10 for their 1st choice players Solid 7 overall. Would have been an 8 with Lingard, 9 with Zapata, 10 with both plus Diego Carlos. Trippier and Bruno are outstanding signings. Burn and Targett seem very solid. Wood goes either way imo. I think the quality is there, we're just a striker or AM signing at the same level of Trippier and Bruno away from ticking every box. Overall, considering our position, very impressed and again, most importantly for me, 10/10 for effort.
  22. Don't do it to yourself, honestly.
  23. On paper I think we should have sorted the defence in this window, providing they can all connect with each other fairly quickly and Bruno's there to protect them. Goals haven't been our problem really, so hopefully we'll have enough.
