Yeah, Sunday leagues are becoming a bit of a thing of the past unfortunately. The annual charity tournament at Berwick started last night if anybody wants a bit of a different fix between now and July. It's just a little pitch and there is absolutely no guarantee of any quality (although some teams in the past have consisted entirely of Northern League standard players) but it's a unique venue under the town walls, and Berwick is a canny day out anyway. Can't remember what times the kickoffs are but I'm pretty sure the games are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and two games on a Saturday.

Don't get the disdain for Forest. Of course they're not great, but they've had a fucking brilliant season and it obviously hasn't just been luck the whole time. Actual evidence that the game can still be played at a high level by a well drilled team with no 'purples' to speak of and a little old stadium. I don't know what's not to like, would have loved to see them win the cup.

Have heard a theory that they are merely keeping their powder dry in the hope that their playoff opponents forget what they're like when they're trying. I'm not convinced

Now the Northern League is finished I went to an Alliance ground I missed out on last season to watch Haltwhistle vs Percy Main. Entertaining enough if a bit short on quality. Percy Main look to have regressed a fair bit since I watched them last season, might have just been an off day but they're rock bottom of the division which tells its own story.

I was talking about this to a lad at work. Seems a bit weird to purposefully go into the playoffs on the back of no form or consistency but hey, I'm sure they know what they're doing

I wonder if folk in Bradford and Wakefield go on the same way about Leeds. Have never known anything like it, the way a clearly lesser area - still big and important but, evidently to absolutely everybody, indisputably less so - harps on and on about being equally worthy of note.
