  1. They could but clearly don’t want the responsibility or full burden of being majority shareholders. Whatever people think of Staveley she is well respected in Middle East circles. I wonder if there would be any mileage in her getting BZG or even Maktoum’s involved. She must have had many dealings with Dubai royal family considering the length of time her business has been based there.

  3. Feel absolutely nothing reading this, and got to say I remain unconvinced by any of it. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ashley-sets-deadline-newcastle-takeover-22455611
  4. He certainly did and this is a good read by Michael Martin on relationship between PL board and bein. I think this is looking murkier the more you read, though when it comes to Qatar we shouldn’t be surprised. At the very least would the consortium have grounds that the PL leaked confidential information, or do they get away with just saying it’s part of their investigations ?
  5. I also think this is getting overlooked, remember Keys and co seemed to have info that deal had stalled in previous week. Could it be that previous indications of approval changed when this cnut was appointed as Chairman on 1st June.
  6. Premier league twitter is being bombarded, they’ll certainly not be liking it Masters getting pelters. Keep it up lads.
  7. :whatdidido:It’s alright the likes of Matt Slater now saying this was never gonna pass, however that isn’t what he was saying previously. He always maintained he thought a deal would be struck so hindsight is a great thing. I honestly thought once they started introducing anti piracy measures they would find a way to get it through, and at the time we appeared to have momentum with it being agreed. Then the bombshell where they banned bein, was it some great master plan to get their own tv rights, or an example of the Saudis badly misreading the situation. It sadly appears it was the latter, though I still maintain they should have the right to allow who they want to broadcast in their own country. However, whilst you can argue this wasn’t part of o & d test it clearly hasn’t gone down to well, and certainly didn’t help facilitate any good will. Now to the PL I have no reason to disbelieve the consortium that on 2 separate occasions it was indicated to them that the test would be passed. That’s where the problem lies at with me, who give this indication and what influenced their change in stance. In my opinion they and Masters in particular lost his bottle completely and bowed to external pressure, most notably from bein and other clubs. This is where the anger and mistrust come into it for me, if this takeover had been carried out without the glare of publicity it attracted, I believe it would have been passed. Yes the Saudis aren’t blameless but the PL have serious questions to answer, in particular the allegation that they refused to either accept or reject the deal. At best it comes across as unbelievably arrogant and that they are making the rules up as the go, and at worst they have manipulated the situation where they knew the deal was about to expire and played for time. Why would they not reject the deal, were they concerned that they didn’t have justifiable reasons that would stand up ? Also if Masters thinks he has played a blinder here I think he is greatly mistaken. Bein will low ball the PL for next rights package, they have already indicated they will bid less next time. He has also probably now lost the regions richest nation for good, and there is no way now to get a foot in the potentially rich Saudi market. Finally if other club owners are feeling pleased with themselves, they might get a shock when they want to sell their club, this has set a precedent where the PL can in effect scupper any sale without ever having to provide a reason. It will not be lost on potential buyers that you can lose a massive deposit, have no timescale for a decision and be subjected to public scrutiny as clearly they have breached confidentiality agreements in this process.
  8. She had Chinese money behind one of bids, not sure if that was original failed bid, or attempt last May. It was only November when Saudis came on board. I know there was sovereign wealth involved in her 1st bid, but always presumed this may have been Dubai royal family ie Maktoum’s.
  9. I’ve posted this previously but it will give you a pretty big clue. https://offthepitch.com/a/manchester-united-and-liverpool-given-special-access-vet-chief-executive-candidates
  10. I think PCP are hoping Ashley unleashes his lawyers now, I definitely think he’s our only hope of some movement at this point. Unless PCP can provide some evidence to suggest they’ve been misled by PL, and want to sue them for the 17 million they’ve all lost.
  11. Yeah I still keep imagining what it would be like had this been given go ahead, the excitement levels across Tyneside would be crazy. I still keep hoping this is final throw of dice, and behind the scenes intermediary’s are working to come to an agreement. Unfortunately I think this is just wishful thinking and the PL are sitting there very content with how this has worked out. They probably even knew the deadline the deal expired and they have completely manufactured this outcome. It’ll always be my club, however I also don’t think I’ll ever get over this or want anything to do with PL again.
  12. I really hope the Saudis now become a constant thorn in Premier Leagues side, at the very worst they won’t be broadcasting bein there for 2 years, and at the very best BeoutQ will make a welcome return bigger and more wide spread than ever.
  13. The govt should definitely be taking an interest in a deal that would have seen millions of foreign investment into the local economy. In a post Covid era where job losses in the north East will be increasing, this investment would have provided a significant boost. On so many levels we’ve been fucked over, our only long shot is now legal action from Ashley. If he is desperate to sell and let’s face it he’ll never get 300 million in the current climate, he might just pull the trigger and unleash the lawyers.
  14. Yeah Masters will have received his congratulations from Levy, Fenway and co. As much as I despise Ashley this is why I’m out for good. The Premier League should be left in no doubt they’re now reviled on Tyneside. The only takeover knowingly to never be approved in the Premier League era, let that fucking sink in.
  15. Yeah, I mean look - that is a MASSIVE concession. Still not good enough for the PL? Obviously not corrupt and fucking spineless.
  16. This from Liam Kennedy is the crux of it for me. I mean they were prepared to allow the whole of PIF board to be subjected to o & d test. This would have included Al Qasabi who is media minister. What I fail to understand is why they wanted govt to be named directors, was this just an excuse to then fail it due to piracy links, or did they know this was not feasible, and therefore the deal breaker. ‘The deal hit a legal stalemate around three weeks ago with the Premier League wanting the KSA state to be named as the majority owners of Newcastle United, instead of PIF. This was because the Premier League legal team found it difficult to unpick the links between PIF and the Saudi state. And while the Saudis declined the prospect of a state purchase, they did offer for PIF itself, the actual organisation, to be subjected to owners and directors test scrutiny, not just named directors such as Yasir Al-Rumayyan’.
  17. The point is being missed in all of this anyway, as this saga has somehow shown that Ashley isn't the real villain when you get down to brass tacks. So it doesnt matter if or when another buyer comes along, the simple fact is that this buyer was prevented from making the purchase due to corruption in the Premier League. NUFC have just had their final chance to join the elite denied them due to corruption. And from here on no takeover will offer more potential than the one just denied, or be able to erase the memory of what happened when the club was stopped from becoming the richest in the game due to the establishment clubs fearing they will be usurped. Like many, I am done with football now in all of its forms. I will hang around on here for a little while as part of the grieving process over the events of yesterday and to observe the fallout of it all. But once I have got over it then thats it for me. I read someone say earlier that Ashley's NUFC will now quickly fall apart. I disagree - this is the true beginning of his NUFC because the old one that died yesterday was the lingering remnants of the Keegan/SBR era. Those years between 1992 and 2004 have sustained the idea that NUFC could still break the elite given the right break. Well yesterday confirmed that this will never happen. And from today NUFC just moved down the rankings a few pegs, into the bracket of clubs like Sunderland & West Brom - clubs who have the odd day in the sun but generally yoyo between the top two leagues, and will never, ever challenge the establishment clubs. I also suspect they will now become a club that has a stadium that is too big for them, because they wont average anywhere near 50k crowds for a very long time, if ever. At least the sale of Strawberry Place is no longer anything to get upset about. Great post sums up my thoughts entirely. Never felt so let down, angry and upset in all my time following this great club, a truly fucking awful couple of days.
  18. Well said this is a major problem within our support, some right fucking moaning cnuts who just like to bash other supporters willing to try and do something. Reading some of the comments on here bashing Caulkin aswell, give your fucking head a shake. The blokes one of us and will be fucking hurting just as much. For anyone also bashing Staveley in 13 years she’s the only person to have a bid accepted and get this far. Yes she’s fallen short but at least she’s fucking give it her best shot, she may well have made some mistakes but who fucking doesn’t it.
  19. What a fucking day absolutely heartbroken for all of us who wanted this so badly. I actually couldn’t give a shit about the PL issuing some carefully worded statement, most of us know what’s gone on here. The PL has used protectionism and a rights partner to scupper this deal, and what makes it really difficult to swallow is I think they’ve got exactly what they wanted and angled for today. I fully believe Staveley’s accusation that they have continually moved the goal posts. I think we all suspected Masters was a smug cnut from his earlier interviews, but worse than that he looks a gutless one tonight, it appears they didn’t even have the balls to reject this and we’re going to leave it in limbo. I truly hope PCP launch legal action, though I suspect with the Barclays case that will be a step to far. That’s me fucking out though it’s definitely the hope that kills you.
  20. This not disputing golfmag has genuine contacts he clearly has, but think this info received is either incorrect or misinterpreted. We would know if this bid had been green lit, and all the evidence suggests it hasn’t yet.
  21. I think the 300 million agreed deal is incorrect, seen a couple of journos suggest it’s actually 340 million. Which would tie in with amount of deposit paid to Ashley.
  22. I’m struggling to believe it’s been given green light, and the delay is down to Ashley. I’m pretty sure something would have leaked in press if we had been been green lighted.
  23. I would probably still pick Saudis ahead of most others tbh. If they're good enough partners for our govt, Amanda and the Reuben bros, they are good enough for me. Exactly these journalists now preaching we should be wary of their motives can f*** off. I’d happily see them purchase the club without passing the test, and then just fold the club to f*** off the PL. These journalists would be better off investigating which clubs are actively pulling Masters strings to prevent this and also what extent Bein are medalling behind the scenes. I would actually like this to be investigated - for exactly the same reason I want Hunter Biden to be investigated. This conspiracy theory is as bad as any of Trump’s ridiculous notions... Conspiracy theory or naivety on your part ? I think you’ll find certain clubs hold more sway than others. https://offthepitch.com/a/manchester-united-and-liverpool-given-special-access-vet-chief-executive-candidates Conspiracy theory, and a stupid one. Some people might have thought it would be a stupid conspiracy theory to suggest 2 clubs would interview a candidate without the prior knowledge of the other 18 stakeholders.
