  6. If you saw Jinky Jim play your grandad must be a canny age  I'm 67 and saw Jimmy Smith play and I also saw him in the Cavendish night club on a regular basis
  7. You'd think this along would put any doubts to bed. Surely Beinsports would lose TV rights too
  8. Not my first match but few memories before, Newcastle United v Charlton Athletic, 07 October 1961 mainly because my dad told me Dave Hollings was drunk, Alan Suddicks debut as well
  9. Yes, I well remember the winning "Inter-Cities Fairs Cup" run of 1968/1969. Then the "European Fairs Cup" runs over the following two seasons (1969/1970 and 1970/1971). Losing out to Anderlecht the previous season...losing the first leg 2-0 but 3-0 up late in the second half only for Anderlecht to score a late goal and winning on away goals rules....one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had in football. Yes, that Anderlecht Match. WHAT an atmosphere, so loud "United" / "United" / "United" endlessly. Then, we had it won until Nordhal swiped at the ball with the foot he normally only used to stand on, and we (the holders) were OUT. Me too, one of the worst feelings . . . The whole ground was singing the Blaydon Races when Nordhai scored, devastating but best atmosphere ever
  10. Bit of a ramble here, I can remember as far back a the late 50's when it was NEW-CASS- SELLchanted by the whole ground, late 60's The Leazes trying to chant non- stop for 40 minutes, I believed then we were the best supporters in the country, I believed it would only be a matter of time before we won the FA cup, it never happened. I renewed briefly after Rafa came after stopping after they sacked Houghton. We've always had boo boys always but never the pathetic acceptance of failure as under Ashley. I hope you youngsters can rid St James of that. I'm not going back. Too old, its too cold and too expensive. I hope this comes off and I can die happy believing once again we can win something.
  11. I gave up my season ticket when Chris Hughton was sacked, renewed after the appointment of Rafa but once again became disillusioned and gave it up again after my ticket went up by £100 , I'm now 67 and wont be going back, but I hope those who (if we are taken over) are lucky enough to get season tickets make St James Park somewhere special to watch a football match again United againp; Stay safe
