  1. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-saudi-arabia-takeover-ashley-24469458 The manipulation of Newcastle United fans, their dreams, emotions and desire for a better football club, continues. How can consortium leader Amanda Staveley claim on Friday afternoon that the deal was “on” and would be done.... only for the arbitration case at the Premier League to be delayed for months just three days later because BOTH sides had yet to disclose info? Transparency was the consortiums new battle ground to turn the fan fire on the Premier League. That's laughable considering Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, chaired Saudi head of state Prince Mohamed bin Salman, would end up an 80pc stakeholder in the Tyneside club. Perhaps the Saudi Public Investment Fund, who would be the legal owners of Newcastle United, would like to be fully transparent about how two planes they owned were used to fly a hit squad to Turkey to kill and chop up a journalist. MPs who correctly make transparency demands of the Premier League should also be asking for transparency on these matters too. Fair enough, moan about the minutiae of an arbitration process, but there were huge problems that should have been sorted out to smooth a deal. But it's easier to turn fan fire on the Government who have no say over the Premier League ownership rule book. Then there's Mike Ashley... the new champion of transparency and openly available information! The club accounts are overdue. His club bans awkward journalists, offers little or no communication with fans, failed to explain a land deal next to St James' Park, failed to give quick refunds on season ticket cash during the COVID shutdown. He changed the stadium name without consultation, was hammered by a tribunal which ruled in favour of Kevin Keegan, and blanked Alan Shearer after he was boss for eight games. But conveniently he's found a cause which can be used to incite fans to be angry about, rather than his ownership. It's time for Ashley to find a new buyer who can actually close a deal, or fund Steve Bruce with transfer cash this summer. This limbo is unfair, and it must end.
  2. He gets sacked and Tim Sherwood, Mark Hughes, would we think about Paul Lambert etc? They'd be straight in, what an uninspiring club we are
  3. If it's not PIF and co, it'll be someone else. And judging by the "serious bids" of which there has been 1 to my knowledge that made it to an accepted bid... this one... we might be in it for a while. Let's hope there's someone serious waiting in the wings!
  4. Absolutely grim. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-9804037/Married-Premier-League-player-arrested-suspicion-child-sex-offences.html In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: 'Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences. He is on police bail pending further enquiries.'
  5. I think first a jurisdiction application hearing must happen. That's before anything else continues... all sources (Jacobs, Chronicle etc) insist an update by the end of the month is likely. Kennedy claimed a 6 month expedited process taking us around November, but it's Newcastle and the delays pile up so no can't say for certain
  6. On the arbitration process, which she has pleaded is made public, Staveley added: "I can’t talk about the actual arbitration process as I’m not privy to it but I can tell you all of the questions the Premier League presented to us were absolutely answered in an incredibly quick and timely manner.” Club challenge to get the consortium passed. I think it's based on suspicion Ghodoussi's tweet because I don't see how they'd know. Jamie Reuben retweeted a Mark Douglas tweet on transparency just before as well, similar boat
  7. Article's been updated https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/19/newcastle-uniteds-takeover-arbitration-hearing-postponed-2022/ The delay has been caused by issues of disclosure of information on both sides of the legal argument, but will come as an enormous frustration to supporters who remain desperate for the takeover to go through. Neither the buyers, whose legal challenge has been led by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, or the Premier League were willing to provide all of the relevant information needed for the panel to make a decision, forcing the adjournment. That would suggest that the Saudi Arabian government has not helped Ashley win the case by providing the information asked for by the Premier League last summer when the takeover collapsed. In turn, the Premier League have also not been forthcoming with information requested, making the adjournment inevitable. As a result, blame can be attached to both sides, with the club trapped in purgatory while this drawn out process continues. The alternative option for Ashley is to sell the club to another interested party and it is thought that is an option currently under consideration. Telegraph Sport also understands that both sides have known for some time that the hearing would be adjourned because of the lack of evidence provided, which raises questions as to why Newcastle have failed to carry out any transfer business since the players returned to pre-season training a fortnight ago. It is also thought parties who have previously expressed an interest in buying the club, but who had been deterred by PIF’s very public bid, are likely to test Ashley’s resolve to sell to them given the myriad of problems he has faced in getting the deal through the Premier League’s Owners and Directors Test.
  8. Disclosure's a complicated thing Shell made a thread on it from a personal capacity, isn't gospel but valuable For the best to not rest our hopes on this particular bid now
  9. More like 7 to 10 hours...
  10. A strongly worded scathing attack by Ashley I wouldn't mind soon, not professional by any means but he isn't the type of guy to be measured, he acts impulsively
  11. Friday: 300 protestors in London fighting for transparency, supported by the consortium through Staveley and Ghodoussi Monday: Troubles regarding disclosing evidence delay proceedings in our arbitration case by at least 6 months, pretty much indefinitely stalling - arguably it already was - the PIF-led takeover. At least we can't say we're a boring football club
  12. We made it to the PL checks stage this time, the furthest a takeover has ever got. But worst of all, the furthest it's ever got without happening. Another what if moment because I'm convinced it's over. Actions speak louder than words. And Staveley's interviews were positive, amazing and relieving words to hear. But delays upon delays in both cases - this one allegedly from both sides re disclosure - make PIF involvement unfeasible now imo. Take their money to Italy where they might be appreciated, we'll suffer but so will the league for refusing to decide
  13. I saw someone suggest they might be trying an out of court settlement hence the delay. But why was the delay to do with disclosing evidence (on both sides allegedly) and why are proceedings delayed to next year if that were the case?
  14. I'm half expecting a consortium statement tomorrow or something confirming they've had enough of these games, kicking the can down the road and take their investment elsewhere. At least it would be closure on this particular saga as I'm convinced it's never happening within the establishment football currently has running it
  15. Glad we can put this ITK to bed
  16. Twitter ITKs should go in the braindead thread as a formality unless somehow proven to be correct
  17. "Over the past three financial years Everton have posted combined losses of almost £265m (£139.9m in 2019-20, £111.8m in 2018-19 and £13.1m in 2017-18). That breaches Premier League profit and sustainability rules allowing for a loss of £105m over three years, although that is a pre-Covid figure and restrictions have been relaxed as a result of the pandemic."
