https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1470664/Arsenal-transfer-news-Joe-Willock-Newcastle-gossip Ian McGarry says Newcastle have tabled an improved loan bid for Willock. But the Gunners want him to stay after seeing his performances when on loan last term. "They want to keep Joe Willock," McGarry said. "My information is that Newcastle United have made an improved offer in terms of loan fee to take Joe Willock again for a season. "Arsenal have declined that offer and in doing so informed the player and his agent that he is in Mikel Arteta's plans having proven himself in the division with Newcastle United. "So it looks to me like they will retain Willock on the basis he will get game time and they will develop him at the Emirates Stadium rather than have him do so elsewhere. "Not saying that it's definitely not the case he will go out on loan but at this moment in time, I think Arteta is keen to keep his options open."

Celtic lose to newly-promoted Hearts on the 1st day of the season
-
So Kane might happen too
-
He's well-prepared after his time at Sunderland
-
1000 votes so not huge. But big player over big (arguable after Newcastle + Dalian to some) manager
-
He played about 700 minutes of football for us, I don't think we gave him enough time. Either way he hasn't been up to standard clearly. Nice guy at least
-
Speaking of which our accounts are due to be submitted today. Wonder whether they will

From Hendrick to Iniesta. What a step up for him

If it's the release clause that was hinted at then fair enough

Grealish medical next week - expected https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/30/exclusive-manchester-city-make-jack-grealish-transfer-bid-100million/ " The 25-year-old was set to return for training with Villa on Monday next week, after taking a break following England's involvement with Euro 2020, but City are hopeful of striking an agreement over the next few days. It is understood that City may allow Bernardo Silva, the Portugal international, to leave the club as a result of Grealish's impending arrival. Manchester City, Villa and Grealish's agent were all contacted on Friday and declined to comment on the record-breaking offer. With Grealish now expected to undergo a medical early next week, this development was always an unwelcome scenario for Villa's ambitious owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who are targeting a return to European football with the club's best player at the forefront."

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-boss-steve-bruce-answers-21188491 Reports linking Bruce with a three-year contract offer emerged before the game. Speaking after the 2-0 win over Burton last night, Bruce said: "I honestly do not know where it came from. "That was news to me." And when asked if he'd held any talks, Bruce insisted: "No". More interestingly when asked if he was at the end of his contract in May, he replied: "No."

He's on about Willock every game now
-
This true?
-
He doesn't fit Rafa's system so is naturally unneeded, as the system is more important than any 1 player. He's a big name and the fans have that to cling on, but it was never going to last so long as Ancelotti wasn't manager. Replies are heavily toxic ofc

2-0 Joelinton

Supporting Newcastle brings more than its fair share of miseries, we all know that. This thread gives people the faintest bit of hope that things can be different. Ages ago this was the futile optimism thread, I imagine people prefer positive to futile given its meaning! Both might apply depending on who you ask

Bruce said we were "adequate" I think up front. The same word Charnley used to describe our training facilities

Isn't serious Lee said after and pre-seasons are "just a work-out" (most years we get rocky results, 4-0 Braga and 5-1 Boro 2nd team come to mind) but it's getting closer to the season. We need Jones back, I haven't seen pics of him - he's our last hope
