  1. "Some online say he gets an easy ride in press conferences but that misses the point. He is challenged but you're not there to be Jeremy Paxman, dangling the sword of truth over the Head Coach and coming out with some sort of victory on behalf of supporters. They get testy, some of those press calls. I can remember a back and forth with Paolo Di Canio and I was there when Joe Kinnear exploded in his first stint at Newcastle. My personal high (or low) light was being the only Newcastle-centric reporter in Alan Pardew's post-match press conference after United's 3-1 defeat at Stevenage in 2011. While the national lads were happy to absorb platitudes about it being a difficult night, I had the back page of the Sunday Sun to fill and knew fans would be as angry about United's worst FA Cup performance since Hereford. " From Mark Douglas' new email newsletter, explaining that journos don't give him an easy ride. Apparently.
  2. I'm sure you'll have noticed the account before, guy's called Raheem. Friend of the Ashley family allegedly, which explains why most of his tweets are baiting Newcastle fans. Says Bruce is building a "project" and we're attacking him unfairly because we expect too much. The standard. Good laugh when he tries piping up though
  3. I've seen a few questioning why we think it's lucky, or saying that it isn't the performance that matters, but the result (no matter how poorly we play to get there, the fact remains we got there). Misinformed people. The one who said we weren't lucky didn't watch the game, was going off shots and possession, if that mattered
  4. A real gem too, there's a few more NUFC360 retweeted
  5. "But we have another wonderful opportunity against Newport and a club like ours can win five or six games. It would be great to park it until after Christmas knowing we have got a quarter-final to come. That would be something to look forward to." This as well
  6. Edwards at it again with some quotes, brand new https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/29/steve-bruce-understand-criticism-comes-newcastle-united-manager/ "If I make a substitution, how we play, formation, everything. I understand one thing. Our performances against Brighton and against Tottenham were nowhere near what we are capable of. I accept, I get criticism for that, but it's the constant: 'He doesn't know what he is doing. Why has he picked this team? This is the way forward. We should be playing like this blah blah blah.'" Stands out for me
  7. Again this is bollocks. The man's a liar. With him as manager, the performance is almost always s***. Can only think of a handful of exceptions where the football has been somewhat watchable. Occasional decent results have been masking dreadful performances for his entire tenure. Totally right, we're getting undeserved results and that's been consistent during his tenure. It gives the impression we're doing better than we are (the stats nerds: xPts we were on 31 or something last year, competing with only Norwich for bottom place according to that) and feeds into the narrative that Bruce is doing a fantastic job. After all, on face value we've drawn against Tottenham, we beat Chelsea, Man United, drawn to Man City. All these results, doing great yeah? We've been outperformed consistently by teams we should be competing with, Brighton in particular, and the few instances we do perform we can't keep it consistent. Other fans don't have to watch us every week, so their impression is often misinformed based on what they see, they see results. They don't see performances. And while it lasts, I'm all for lady luck giving us undeserved points. But when the luck runs out, we'll be facing a lot more than just an agenda-driven media
  8. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-qa-discuss-spurs-19012975.amp?__twitter_impression=true As part of this: "Hi DC7. My understanding is that there are manoeuvres in the background but the battle has moved onto the legal challenge from Ashley towards the Prem Lge. That is being done with the intention - long-term - of forcing the issue and allowing this takeover to go through. An interesting footnote: PIF have been approached by plenty of clubs of late. But they'd prefer to wait it out for Newcastle" with regards to takeover latest
  9. x5 better than at HT against Brighton tbf, still god awful
  10. As for Fraser missing it. Isn't risking an injury, makes a change
  11. Some conspiracy theory going round that the PIF might help bail out football to further their agenda getting the club - makes no sense to me but Twitter seems to have discovered it. Talksport too so that's all you need to know. Guess the positive lot amongst us will like it
  12. Some right lies in that, mind. A few of note: "he proved to do even better in terms of the league position" - 10th in 17/18 and 13th in 18/19 compared to 13th in 19/20. At best, he matched it. At worst, he didn't do 'even better' "and they turned out to be quite exciting" Mustn't have watched that Brighton game on Sunday, 0.02xG in the first 45 mins. The Man City FA Cup one, had about 30 passes in the 1st half. I'm being selective ofc. Not every game is like a West Ham, or a Bournemouth, or a Morecambe really. "he also knows the game inside out" I saw a tweet that included an alleged chat with Ritchie de Laet. Most goals are scored five passes or less? He's been quite outspoken against Bruce tbf, but he seems to be a gentler touch than Rafa's noted calculated stance. Each to their own, I won't compare the two methods, both have the potential to work. a Reddit post linking the article, and the tweet with that DM https://twitter.com/SamLennon21/status/1307973804090630144?s=20 "I’m not amazed at Steve doing a good job because I know him very well," He can get all the credit he wants for last night, it doesn't matter much when we've the league to concentrate on. After all, wins against League Two teams will do a cup run but it won't protect the club from relegation which still might be threat. A Villa fan even mentioned it on their subreddit, when the going gets tough, or when it isn't apparently, the media will praise him to no end. Something we've got to live with, there's no winning.
  13. Media should be calling him out over his pre-match comments if they backfire (he does say "roll your sleeves up/and give it a go" quite a lot doesn't he?). Sadly they risk being banned by the club if they dare become so outspoken. An unfiltered and frank presser is desperately needed and some fans on Twitter, as little as they speak for all of us, could do a brilliant job at asking the more uncomfortable questions which need to be addressed head-on
  14. Justice? The criminal mismanagement trial, sentences handed out. 28 months and 36 months for the two
  15. It's like when he says he 'shouldn't make this an excuse', but goes off with another excuse, happened countless times
  16. The lowest xG I've ever seen (quality of chances, virtually non-existent)
  17. + Solid day of business for them
