That's fair enough, from his point of view his next contract is very important. Basically his last payday as being 29 his value is probably only going to dwindle. I was just more concerned it was because he wasn't keen on moving here.

If we get him for that I'm not complaining too much considering all the bullshit around us. I doubt he'd go for a lot less in the summer if Spurs or the ilk bought him. Knowing our luck at the minute we'll sign him and he'll have a Woodgate like debut.

Was at the match today, depressing to say the least. Thought we had a good chance of staying up, however this season is beginning to feel like previous relegation seasons. Too many draws against relegation rivals, bad luck, narrow but key officiating decisions going against us and obviously some piss poor performances from the team and senior/better players not stepping up. Although I'm thrilled with getting rid of Ashely etc, the new ownership feel like they are making too many mistakes when they can't afford to. Maybe harsh as they've only been here a very short amount of time. But in the current circumstances there needs to be some direct and drastic action taken. Some very poor individual performances today and obvious we need a new midfield.

We need to stay up and I think the summer maybe the time we get the upgrades as our barging position will be much better. We're bending over for the soap at the minute.

As underwhelming as it might seem, one very unscientific way that I judge a player is when they come on as a sub in a game do I think 'o shit' and I have with Wood. He's also not got a bad record so considering our dire situation this might be a decent signing when looking back through the mist of time.
