The fact that Clarke and Ballard were allowed to leave by their clubs for peanuts without playing any games tells me all I need to I know - rejects. We need to be looking at quality first team players together with up and coming future players. Members of the current first team will then become more squad players. We definitely should not be looking at bringing in players like McTominay if we really want to take the next step up.

The one criticism (and always has been) is that he cuts back onto his left foot all the time when in good positions to make first time crosses. Can't fault his season though and I know he's playing on the right to link up/give protection to Trippier.
