What has actually happened to our fanbase?

Why are we so meek and easily controlled now, unwilling to protest and defend our club?

I'm sure it hasn't always been that way, maybe i'm wrong.

Have we just been battered down too many times?

    We’ve been conditioned.

Year on year expectations have been lowered by Ashley. Also supported by the media narrative.

That’s why you get people like Tubes saying “12th place is a good achievement with this squad”. Imagine saying that when David Moyes has just taken West Ham (the team we thumped on the first day of the season) to 6th place and Europe.

We also have a new breed of fans going to games. The majority of fans who were here pre-Ashley have given up. The majority of people still attending or voicing their support are probably young enough to not really know what life was like pre-Ashley.

It’ll take years to recover from Ashley. Even if PIF get in control and spend millions. The retail, stadium, facilities, academies all need a tremendous amount of time and money.

  2. Same again next season. It’s already happened two years in a row.

Told before the season we’ll aim high. But throughout the season the expectations will be lowered and the thick support will lap it up. Going into a game at home to Barnsley and being told how difficult it will be, facing such an illustrious side.

Some dreadful signings, might strike gold again with an Willock, ASM or Wilson. Will probably end up with more Carroll, Kraft, Hendrick and Lewis.

Another opportunity to see utter shite like Shelvey and Dummett in the team. About three/four years after they should have been peddled.

Turgid football, an inevitable collapse of form at some point during the season and excuses, excuses, excuses.

We’ll probably just scrape survival, again. Might even get to a cup quarter final if we get some lucky draws against lower league opposition. But we’ll get knocked out whenever we face anyone half decent.

The good times are here. We’ll even get the honour of watching West Ham and Leicester in Europe. Probably Scunthorpe winning the FA Cup.

Watching the Leicester highlights. I know it's been done to death but Christ, what use is VAR? If it can't be used to determine that Vardy's cheated a pen (the second one), what the hell use is it? Most obvious simulation i've seen in ages, literally and deliberately locks his arm around the defenders arm and then propels himself into the air like he stood on a land mine and VAR couldn't overrule the award? Fucking useless.

Yup. A clear dive and they do fuck all about it. He won’t be retrospectively banned either, like he should be.

Quite pleased Bale’s goal stood in the end as a bit of karma, even though I have no idea how that wasn’t disallowed either.

VAR has ruined my enjoyment of football. I’ve not celebrated/enjoyed a goal properly in ages, always sat waiting for the game to kick off expecting it to be ruled out for something pathetic.

  4. More chance of him playing for Arsenal regularly next season. They’ll not spend any money and Arteta has already shown he’s willing to bed in younger players.

We probably could sign him though, but we’ll never place a bid close enough.

  5. Only 4 goals from Vardy’s record of 11 consecutive games  for a midfielder playing in a team in the bottom half.

13th and now 12th. I don’t like Bruce but that’s as good as anyone can do with that squad to be fair. Even more so with ASM and Wilson missing a third of the season each as well.

Tubes, man. How do you get things so wrong?

@HaydnNUFC you’ll love this tubes snippet.

Sheff Utd finished 5 points off Fulham.  That shows how bad Fulham have been this last 3rd of the season.  Woeful.

3 points behind relegation specialist Big Sam.

They were only 2 points from safety when Big Sam took over. Relegated by 13 points.

My understanding is they don't have to stipulate the takeover be blocked for it to be a breach of competition law.

The question is whether the clubs are legally allowed to ask that PL 'thouroughly investigate' as per competition law.

It'd be like Coca Cola writing to the Aldi, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Lidl asking them to write to the CMA asking them to convey their concern of an Asda takeover (to James point, the reason doesn't matter), they legally wouldn't be allowed to do that.

They’re certainly allowed to ask the PL to ‘thoroughly investigate’ piracy. As they have done multiple times pre the proposed takeover. That letter is no different.

BeIN will probably be able to produce several other letters from years ago which say a similar thing - proving there is no anti-competition element to it and they’re only concerned about the piracy.

That’s not directly comparable though - if Asda were selling fake Coca Cola in their stores, would Coca Cola be able to convey concerns then? I think they would. They’re protecting their own brand.

The problem is though is that BEIN didn't send that letter to ALL the PL clubs.

It doesn't really matter how they said it,but you simply can't ask the biggest teams in the league to help stop the takeover, while completely ignoring the lower reams. It's emphasising the fact that you're only interested in money money money, and not fair competition.

Also in a process that is strictly confidential, BEIN have absolutely no right to get involved. They are not part of the PL owners and directors test, yet they got themselves involved which again, is not fair competition.

That’s not what the letter says.

Edit - all of this is with the caveat of they are my own opinions and I’m by no means an expert. Hopefully one of the legal chaps on here will be able to shed some light on it.

What are they asking the clubs to do?

They’re not asking them to do anything.

They’re suggesting it’s in the clubs’ interests to protect their own commercial revenues by asking the PL to consider the impact of Saudi piracy.

It certainly doesn’t ask the clubs to block the takeover, nor does it ask them to join a secret group.

Hardly the same when NUFC are a member of the PL? Bein are/were merely a business partner.

    What difference does it make?

BeIN are the business partner who have been directly affected by the piracy. They have every right to raise a concern with it.

I just don’t see anything wrong with that letter. They’re not even calling for the clubs to block it.

The reason for the lobbying is irrelevant. It is against competition law for companies to collude against a rival company.

in this letter PL clubs are being encouraged to collude against us, so the question that can now be applied is did they collude?

That’s not true though, is it? The letter isn’t asking anyone to collude.

It’s a fair letter raising concerns about KSA’s piracy and suggesting clubs should ask the PL to ensure the deal is correctly interrogated, to protect their own revenue.

It’s no different to NUFC asking the PL to take action against the top 6.

Thread on RTG about this and they are accusing those in the video of "behaving like mags". :memelol:

It’s always related back to us. I’ve never seen a thread on RTG without a Mag mention.

All they need to do is get it to 2-0, so I'd still back them.

They’ve won 1 in 10. Not sure why anyone thinks they’re gonna do anything here.

That includes being beaten at home by Charlton and Blackpool whilst drawing against Accrington and relegated Northampton.

Think they’ll get beat again personally. First goal is crucial, if they concede they’ll absolutely collapse imo.

  14. Of course they were never going to get punished, that’s why they did it in the first place because they knew they’d get away with it.

They should all get points deductions and banned from Europe for at least a season. If a breakaway league was set up by the other 14 clubs, they’d be hauled over the coals.

Mad how out of touch ‘top 6’ fans are with football. Unfair on the fans  Aye. Newcastle, Bolton, Wigan, Blackpool, Derby, Hull, Wimbledon, Swindon, Leyton Orient, Portsmouth, Leeds, mackems and Blackburn fans* all deserved the utter shit they’ve been dragged through during the last 10+ years. Fuck off you bunch of entitled tossers.

*plenty more too, these are just the ones off the top of my head.

  15. I can’t foresee a scenario where the PL give in and basically admit to bring wrong/corrupt. Or a scenario where they have cocked up and left themselves wide open to a case like this being successful.

The only hope for the takeover imo (as journalists have said) is a positive outcome through arbitration. Either settling it outside of the process through Saudi’s taking action on piracy, or the unlikely event of arbitration going our way.

At least it appears to be nearing a conclusion, one way or the other. Hopefully it goes our way but I just can’t see it.

  16. The football version of Katie Hopkins.

Get clicks and bites by sprouting their bullshit opinion. People can’t help themselves but bite, give them attention and therefore keep them in the public domain.

If people just ignored them and refused to engage, they’ve get dropped.
