Shame it didn’t follow up with the % of those won which actually reach a team mate and are therefore of any use - probably something like 5.8%.

It’s the equivalent of “what other manager could we get?” to justify keeping a shite manager. We literally pay people thousands of pounds to scout players. If they couldn’t come up with a better option than Wood for £25m, that’s worrying™ in itself.

He’s just not as good as people want him to be. If he was, he wouldn’t be playing for us. He’s got a wonderful style of playing football when he has the ball, but he’s limited. The stick he gets is because of his contribution to goals against, which have been higher than goals scored in the last six months. Any player in those circumstances would be the same. That’s not because he does fancy step overs, that’s because he’s been shite. Although it’s not his fault he is our only option and he’s pretty much undroppable because of it, so he’ll always be in the spotlight even during poor runs of form. That said I think he’ll improve with Wilson and Trippier back. Reckon we’ll keep him for next season but after that he’ll end up at somewhere like Nice. He’ll do well in the French leagues, blag a move to PSG and never play.
